No, this post is NOT about Marijuana. Lol I ran out of rootmaker pots this spring to plant my grafts in. I had an old black maybe 2 gallon one laying around not being used that I figured would be fine to use.....wrong. This poor Galarina. It started growing just awesome right after grafting, until my dogs tail broke it off. Redrafted it and it was growing great again. It was growing so good that I removed the lower sucker the day before that hot weather came in....bad idea with a black pot. I think I fried it. It's barely holding on. I will never use a black pot for a graft again!

SC,
Did you put that graft in full sun? I'd keep them in shade until you get longer top growth so there's less stress. I've set young grafts back due to full sun. If the temps are 75+ I'd keep them out of direct sun until you have 6+ inches of top growth. Also, take into factor the roots on the rootstock. If they're small then you really don't want too much growth the first year anyways. I do find the black rootmaker pots stress the young grafts more than the white rootrapper bags do.

Yep, full sun. Not my brightest move!

I think the issue was the full sun and not the pot. I'd still water it. Move to the shade and wait. Either the rootstock or the scion may come back in the next month or so.
