Once again I am getting around to spraying my trees later than I want. How effective is spraying Volunteer on my trees/grasses this time of year? Normally I am spraying them earlier when they are smaller and more tender. Grasses are definitely more mature than I like to see them. I am asking since if it isn't going to be very effective it would save me a ton of time. We are spraying 7000 trees annually. Thoughts or suggestions??
P.S. I should add it is mostly timothy and june grass.

I think you should cage them and put down those squares of black anchored in 8 spots and then use pea gravel made to look like all 50 states and various cartoon characters. I can come help if pick the right dates.

I Assume that product is another 26% cleth? I do not think June grass or Timothy are on the label? But I would not hold back on the chemical, 12oz min and a good 90% surfactant.

I thought somebody lost their damn mind when I read his response.....then this and I actually laughed out loud. I swear there is something in the water up there or it's the prolonged winters that just make some of you guys a little screwy! I used volunteer on mature johnsongrass once - don't recall the dose and it did a great job. I had just planted a buffer and the NRCS guy came out to look at it and about shit his pants! I was so proud of myself as I knew I had planted orchardgrass and timothy so I saw grass and thought I had done a great job. Obviously I had no idea at the time what johnsongrass even was. He looked and me and said,"What the hell did you do?" well turns out it was all a real nice stand of JG.....so I sprayed it and turns out the orchardgrass and timothy under it bounced back OK. Turned out not all grass is the same....I'm a hair smarter now.
