I feel confident with Bailey's trees, even though they do not indicate rootstock. Most of the trees purchased in Mn. are Bailey's trees. Their rootstocks for non dwarf are dolgo or colombia from what I have heard.

Ogemaone,
Are the trees for deer, eating , cider?
If I were in your shoes I'd order up cold tolerant rootstock like Dolgo and antonovka and maybe B118 and plant them. Then learn to graft and graft them in 2-3 years. You could plant 10 rootstock trees for the price of one. You'll have plenty of scions from your current trees to graft and if you don't have time they'll still produce deer apples down the road.

I someday hope to make cider on a small scale here is what I have so far 4 honeycrisp 3 dolgo 3 centennial 5 chestnut crab 6 franklin 4 Whitney 8 winter wildlife 8 viola hanging

Yeah it was fun watching you guys call him out but, he'd never admit to bring Charlie. Even Ben Hooper got on him pretty hard. That was the only time I ever saw Ben kind of get into it with someone online. A guy with the handle ChasMo repeatedly pushes products from Morse Nursery, owned by Charles Morse...and we're supposed to believe there is absolutely zero connection. Ya, ok...sure That had to be around 15 years ago Carl...I didn't know you'd been "around" that long

Yeah I'd say it was close to 15. I lurked the QDMA and Iowa Whitetail forums dreaming for the day when I could own some land. I remember the roundup ready soybean phase, the dwarf chinkapin oak phase, Lick Creek mix phase. The Geo phase. Then the Dipper and Bullwinkle phase. Oops I forgot the rootmaker and dunstan phases.

I was just wondering. All my trees have come from Cummings, Woodstock, and St Lawrence. Just thinking how many and what type I want to plant next year. I'm thinking 15-20 more for the spring. Just looking for different varieties. Here are the 15 trees I have held so far from Cummings, but it will probably change once St. Lawrence comes out with the 2018 offering. Item Price Quantity Total Campfield (Apple) B.118 grade #1 $27.75 $27.75 Empire (Apple) B.118 grade #3 $23.75 $23.75 Galarina (Apple) B.118 grade #2 $29.00 $58.00 Honeycrisp (Apple) B.118 grade #1 $27.75 $83.25 Northern Spy (Apple) B.118 grade #1 $27.75 $55.50 Redfield (Apple) B.118 grade #1 $27.75 $27.75 Virginia Crab (Hewe's) (Apple) B.118 grade #1 $27.75 $55.50 Wickson Crab (Apple) B.118 grade #1 $27.75 $27.75 Wolf River (Apple) B.118 grade #1 Ogemaone, Cummins has a $4 or so price break per tree if you buy 20 or more.

Thanks, I added a few more Hewes and Wickson crabs. Still going to wait to see what SLN has this year. I figure I will add 20 more trees this year which will bring me to 61. I think I am done then unless I lose any. Running out of room and that is plenty to take care of with pruning.

Training/pruning/spraying/maintaining 60+ trees as an absentee owner will definitely keep you busy
