I sprayed my plots once and with the recent rains I noticed a lot of new weeds coming in. Is it worth spraying again or will the beans take over the canopy in time? Last time I sprayed I ended up running over a lot of corn due to my row configuration so I'm tempted to leave it alone. What do you guys thinks?

I go up tomorrow. Afraid of what I am going to find.
My tractor sprayer didnt work for crap... So bringing the ATV out tomorrow and sure hoping I got lucky. I dont want to have to redo it again.
I dont think those beans are going to canopy much. It all looks very sparse.
Are you sure the planter you used got the seed rate down correctly? It does not appear to look like it.

I didn't use a row planter. I used a drill with every third space closed, so 2 six inch rows then a space. The seed is mixed all together and you may be right as far as the canopy but i have a feeling the soybeans will be thick with the shade of the corn. I am thinking I may damage more than it's worth by spraying again.

It's a food plot, your not a farmer or cash cropping it are you. A few weeds won't hurt anything.

You could use a back-pack sprayer & hit the worst spots.

You could use a back-pack sprayer & hit the worst spots. This is what I would do. If the hole thing is bad I would spray it again otherwise spot spray it.

You can drive over 2' tall corn once and have it stand back up on its own. I would spray, for two reasons. For the weeds this year that will hurt you, and if you leave them this year, they will kill you next year!

I'm currently fightin the start of a marestail and pigweed infestation because "I didn't care about a few weeds". It's not bad yet but they have shown up. I would spray again and make sure I knew the exact id of everything popping up there.

I think I will spray again if the winds ever stop. Most of the weeds I have are lambsquarter and a grass. Thanks guys.

Because Liberty has not many weeds resistant yet like Roundup. Plots look great so far after one spraying. Edit: The waterhemp got out of control last year so we added some cobra to the Glyphosate to kill the waterhemp. But the deer did not like the taste of that cobra on the beans, it caused them to shy away from or beans I think for most of the fall. So I wont do that again.

I've mentioned LL to the FIL a few times but he hasn't wanted to try it because he also has a lot of Johnson Grass and doesn't think Liberty herbicides will control JG well. His bean fields are on a creek that floods every yr. The water brings all sorts of nasty crap with it and it's a constant battle. I fear the pigweeds are more than he can handle this yr... they are thick!

I have half of my field planted in straight liberty link soybeans and they are still mostly clean compared to the RR plots. Expensive herbicide but much better results.

What do Liberty Link beans cost? And what about the herbicides.....as compared to RR?

The herbicide is 165 or so for 2.5 gallons but the beans end up being somewhat cheaper than RR. I purchased a bag locally and they weren't any cheaper but Mo could give you more accurate pricing.
