The young fellers got 'er done. They had to drag it with the skidsteer, but they got it where I wanted it. I predict I'll see many bucks from this stand. My office chair for this box blind got delivered yesterday. I assembled it and got it in the blind. I also hit the bottom half or so of the long corner windows with some black spray paint. That definitely helps with not getting seen while moving around with the windows open on one side. Forgot to take my phone along to snap some pics. I'll try to remember to bring it when I go back out to trim a few branches. I've got a really nice shot out towards the tamaracks, and one towards my Bermedge apple tree. I'm mainly looking forward to sitting in there and watching things this year.

I'm having my mom sew me up some black curtains to put on my blind like yours. I'll use them for the back windows so I don't get skylined moving around the blind.
No pictures yet, but I added a hand rail on the ladder that is attached to a 4x4 post we sunk into the ground. That post and hand rail will double as a brace to the stand, which is always a good thing.

A few pics out of a few windows. Canuck smoke very evident Westish towards the tamaracks and lake Southtish down one stretch of berm trail SSEish if you look closely, you can see a few apples hanging on the Bermedge tree Eastish, top of Ranger cab in pic New firing lane towards the WSW. This was the only significant saw work I had to do. I'm impressed with the battery chainsaw I bought last winter. Didn't even need both batteries and I cut down a few 6-7" diameter trees. To the north(ish) is really thick, I don't have a shot much over 10 yards that way so no pic. I may open something up that direction after this year.

You must have your head on a swivel in that stand with good looking ground to cover in all directions. Your tamarack swamp looks a lot like my swamp in Wisconsin and it is a great spot for deer to go when they want to get away from hunting pressure.

Doesn't look like you're completely flat, nice rolling hills? What chainsaw did you get? I really like our Milwaukee battery chainsaw and hedge trimmer. Makes clearing shooting lanes a breeze now.

Doesn't look like you're completely flat, nice rolling hills? What chainsaw did you get? I really like our Milwaukee battery chainsaw and hedge trimmer. Makes clearing shooting lanes a breeze now. This area of central MN has nice rolling hills with plenty of glacial features (moraines, drumlins, eskers, pothole lakes, etc.). In one of my pics above is part of what is called the "Big Hill" locally. That's a bit bizarre to me as the property I owned in Dane County was at the base of what is called the "Big Hill" locally. My Grandma and mother co-wrote a book about the Token Creek area and its history. Part of that book discusses the Big Hill. My mom's family owned most of that Big Hill from sometime in the 1800s until the early 2000s when my folks gifted it to the DeForest School District and the Town of Windsor. One big part of why I bought here is that it has some topographical similarities to Dane, Sauk, Iowa, counties in WI. An awful lot of MN is flat as hell. I don't much care for that look. I bought an el cheapo Worx saw. You sure aren't going to make wood with the thing, but for trimming lanes/trails/etc. it is handy.

The boys sold and delivered all the box blinds they had built for this summer. They are building Another dozen right now if anyone needs a last minute blind.

I don't think I could build one on my own for that price, even if I had the skills to do a good job. That seems like a great price to me.

I built mine a few years ago for $1,000. And that was only 3 windows. I'd imagine it would be $1,500 today or more. Especially if you had windows all around.

Both have serious scrape lines within easy shotgun range. Given how the tamarack swamp looks right now, I'm going to be hard pressed to not hunt this new blind on opener. I was planning on letting it sit until mid-week, but the swamp sure looks like it should be full of deer. It'll be an opening morning decision I suppose. A south or east wind wouldn't be great for the new stand. Nothing new and exciting on either SD card
