My office chair for this box blind got delivered yesterday. I assembled it and got it in the blind. I also hit the bottom half or so of the long corner windows with some black spray paint. That definitely helps with not getting seen while moving around with the windows open on one side. Forgot to take my phone along to snap some pics. I'll try to remember to bring it when I go back out to trim a few branches. I've got a really nice shot out towards the tamaracks, and one towards my Bermedge apple tree. I'm mainly looking forward to sitting in there and watching things this year. I pulled a couple SD cards. Both required going past one of these stands. Both have serious scrape lines within easy shotgun range. Given how the tamarack swamp looks right now, I'm going to be hard pressed to not hunt this new blind on opener. I was planning on letting it sit until mid-week, but the swamp sure looks like it should be full of deer. It'll be an opening morning decision I suppose. A south or east wind wouldn't be great for the new stand. Nothing new and exciting on either SD card Stu, with enclosed blinds you can usually hunt them with any wind. Just keep the windows closed in the direction the wind is coming from. I have had deer bed right in direction wind was blowing and they have never scented me.

Ya, I know you can get away with hunting less than optimal wind conditions with box blinds. I usually hit above each window opening with a blast of sugar cookie spray every hour or so. I can't hunt with the windows closed. I need to hear the woods. The windows in these blinds also aren't super smooth/quiet when it comes to opening/closing so I'd hate to miss an opportunity due to a closed window. I do keep most of the windows behind me (whichever way I'm sitting) closed, but that's more to keep from being outlined/seen than scented.

For those of you with these blinds, are you putting anything on the windows to keep them from being frosted over in the morning? Keep the windows opened over night?

If I'm going to hunt the same blind the next morning, I just leave the windows open (as long as there's no rain/snow in the forecast anyway).

I just turn the buddy heater on when I get in the blind for any defrosting if needed. I always open the window/windows I will normally be shooting out of right when I get there as well. I don’t like looking through plexiglass.

I just don’t understand people hunting with the windows closed and then spooking deer while opening them.
In my area, most good deer need to be shot within 5-6 seconds.
