This Golden Hornet finally decided to start its life. Tore off the grafting tape last week and noticed that it had healed. Decided to leave it and it popped this week!

SC,
That's great it finally took. Don't expose it to full sun for a while. Keep it in mostly shade. I set back a few grafts this year by putting them in full sun too early.

I did too, even lost two because of it! Lesson learned at a new house!

I've had grafts pop in July before. Never lose hope until the scion wood is brown, wrinkled, and shows no sign of life when the cambium is scratched.

That gives me hope. I did my first top work this year, one is growing good, one got snipped off. The rest I am still hopeful. Two are shriveled up and brown but the rest still have live wood so I am hoping they pop at some point.
