Anybody tear theirs off yet? Art, I remember you saying that you just put a slit in yours. I haven't taken mine off yet, just on the ones that look to be failed and both of my failures were wild crabs that leafed out and didn't take. Must've gotten the scion too late!

What kind of tape did you use? I use parafilm then coat it with asphalt sealer. Never have to remove it as the tree just grows its way through. I do check them each year though, I've probably had a couple over a decade or so that did a bit of help to avoid girdling.
If you're using some other type of tape, then make a single slit length wise while attempting to not go very deep into the bark below. I wouldn't peel the tape off after making the cut, just let the tree "push" it off as it grows.

I removed the tape from my early March grafts in late June. I use parafilm tape to secure the scions but, I pull it twist and twist wrap it so there would be girdling if I don't remove it. It is wrapped so thick it won't break down. I also used rubber bands on several this year so I was worried they'd girdle. I believe those bands helped so I'd use them again and then wrap with the parafilm.
SC, I'd remove a few and see how they look. If they don't look sealed or healed then rewrap tge tape.

I will never leave my grafting supplies whether plumbers tape or parafilm on past July after it girdled my grafts in 2015.

I use parafilm and the tar sealer. I left some on from last year and I could tell those trees were girdled a bit. I was thinking I would remove when I get back from CO next week. Thanks guys.
