I bet SD, could suggest a fertilizer concoction for next year for them. I'm guessing those roots were cut at the nursery before they were wrapped them so it might have set them back a little. If you got nuts this year it should get better from here on out. No doubt the roots had issues. The root balls were massive and were wrapped in burlap and a metal cage. They appeared to be planted in some kind of clay mixture. I cut the cages and removed the burlap at planting. I am actually surprised all 9 are still alive and look great, they just don't seem to grow. I have noticed more new growth shoots the last month so maybe they have turned the corner.

I can hold my own drinking coffee with the agronomy guys, but I'm not confident enough to tell another man what to put on his oaks. I can tinker and even flirt with disaster, but only on my own stuff first.

My company had large trees transplanted in a new parking lot about 7 years ago. It took them 3-4 years to really start growing. They've put on a lot of growth the past couple years. I think it took a while for tge roots to catch up to the tops. Now they've caught up.
