Yup. But it was not intentional. It hurt for a bit, but 45 years later with bow legs, two bad knees( one from a cow falling on me and dislocating it) and a bad back, the toe nail is no longer a problem. Oh boy? Do they say knee replacements for you? A buddy of mine at 38 had a robot replace his (crazy young for that) and he raves about it changed his mobility. My cousin who is late 50s had both knees done because he's pepsi deliver truck driver for 40 years and his legs were bowed, so glad he did it. Not replaced, yet.

Guy passed today. You just never know... Went to his celebration of life earlier. 60ish year old guy dying from a massive heart attack always leaves those left behind a bit shocked. RIP Bruce If you're a dude over 50, probably be a good idea to talk with your GP about a stress test

RIP Bruce If you're a dude over 50, probably be a good idea to talk with your GP about a stress test You know something I don't understand. Since 2020 I'm WAY more personally hesitant medically, I'm against people using those ozempic/wegovy type drugs that are really diabetes meant medication to lose weight. I'm more concerned about all these meds people just take that doctors give them but what does each do to the other inside the body? I think there is a specific type of doctor that compares all those things for you and moves things around if need be.
Just so much things approved that really how much study is there on the affects of such. I am not at all saying I'm right I am just extremely hesitant, I don't take any medications, haven't been to the doctor since 2021, and I turn 41 this Sept.

The guy who just passed hadn't been to a doctor for decades. Didn't believe in them. Find a Dr. you like and trust and who isn't owned by big pharma

The profession is tainted by that exact statement, how do I know they're not BS'ing me?
On my moms side there is a history of heart disease and some big 'ol obese folks. On that side I have it in check lost 70# in 2020 and have kept it off for the most part while making better food decisions along the way. I once had a EKG done when I was in my late 20s they said I have bradycardia which is basically a heartbeat below the 'regular 60', some term it a runners heart. Iono......

This is minor compared to the other stories here, but has anyone here ever squished a toe? I was moving some washed out rip rap by hand with my sons 2 weeks ago and I dropped a large rock on my big toe. The toenail turned purple right away and now it looks kind of dead. Does the toe nail just fall off eventually or is there anything I should do or not do? I’ll do everyone a favor and not include a picture! I’d like to see a picture. If it hurts and stays red around the base of the nail, you need an xray and might be better off having the nail removed. If you have permanent damage to the matrix/root, as mentioned above it might grow out weird and thick forever. It also might allow a fungal infection in, so having it cultured if it grows back thick would be a good idea to see if you need an antifungal. If the nail is still red and painful after a week or two, I normally just take them off and let it reset. Pain relief immediately.

here you go! The rock fell on my toe 2 1/2 weeks ago and it was hard to put a shoe on or off for a week, but now it is ok. It seems like the nail looks dead for a lack of a better term and it doesn’t seem to be firmly attached at the end. I’m planning on just leaving it alone and hope for the best.

I’d agree, doesn’t look broken or inflamed.

I tell you what fellas...keep taking those vitamins and zinc. I did faithfully for a few years and if I got sick it was pretty mild. I stopped taking the stuff probably 6 months ago or so (dumb), and I now have some bug that's kicking my ass. I ran to town to mail bills and get mower fuel and when I got back I'm about wiped out from nothing.
I started taking vitamins and zinc again yesterday. I'll be sticking with it this time

I spent 8 months wondering if I was going to lose my big toe last year. It was as black as black gets, But it came out of it for some reason. Yours good now?
