Not just MDHA. Nothing on MBI, MDDI, MN QDMA, or MWA's fb pages either.

They are the largest deer group in the state and the only deer group our elected seem to give much credence. The lack of leadership by state HQ really irks the crap out of me

I drove through my parts of 221 this morning and saw 15-25 plus deer on each of two fields. Does and skippers (fawns) standing in the ditches. I could see a browse line in 4 miles or more of that area. I am also beginning to see a browse line on my home place in 221. Both areas are Hunters Choice and I am happy with that as well as the day of opener.
I really wonder if 3 deer limit is needed in Stu and Riggs area. I can see browse lines over a few miles down by Riggs.

Well this is good news.... "Deer herds in Deer Permit Area (DPA) 215 are at an all-time high, currently well above the population goal established through the public goal setting process in 2007" Apparently right now there are more deer in my area than ever before If I recall correctly, the '07 (that'd be a full decade ago) goal setting process established a goal of 10-12 dpsm pre-fawn. That was just after a time when the herd most likely was at an all time high, so folks figured 10-12 pre-fawn was plenty. If the number of deer here is at an all time high (the DNR specifically states the northern portion of 215...right where I am) in 215, I feel really sorry for the deer hunters of this state. This area should have had 35-45 dpsm (pre hunt) back in the days of managing for maximum sustainable harvest. I'd guess we'll be right around 20-25 dpsm pre-hunt this fall (which I'd be pretty happy with if the herd was maintained at that level) Oh well

"Thus, the intensive designation should move deer towards goal and allow for less aggressive strategies going forward."
So they are saying that intensive will bring levels down, yet only 2% of hunters statewide shoot more than 2 deer.
Dont they read their own data? Fact is moving to intensive wont do jack shit because pretty much nobody tags more than 2 deer anyway.

Yeah they are full of it.

well at least you don't have this piece of crap statement:
Deer herds in Deer Permit Area (DPA) 214 are at an all-time high, well above the population goal established through the public goal setting process in 2007. Depredation complaints have increased in recent years. This DPA resides in the transition zone and is extremely productive deer habitat. The 2017 management designation of intensive (3 deer) is meant to provide hunters with tools to manage local deer populations and move the overall population towards the established goal. Past harvest history and current information suggests the intensive designation will not greatly reduce populations and multiple years of increased antlerless harvest may be required to decrease populations.

I love this: PA 215 - This DPA has a history of Managed designations that have historically stabilized or allowed for slow increases in the deer population. Thus, the intensive designation should move deer towards goal and allow for less aggressive strategies going forward.
PA 240 - Therefore ,Managed designation was
chosen to keep this highly reproductive population in check and
perhaps reduce slightly to goal.
So how does PA 215 using Managed harvest levels lead to slow increases in population, but in 240, we manage to slightly decrease our population with Managed harvest levels?
What a bunch of assclowns running this show.

Unless I am missing it, there are no early antlerless deer hunts........ There was a release saying 27 zones would have early youth hunts. Strange.
