I wish I had better video of my property in early season, I can see 40-80 deer depending on the night, rifle season it slims down because of all the shooting. I will try my best to take a better video this year sometime in September to show that I'm not full of shit. We have a lot of deer around here i just don't understand the limits. Now we have had 2 mild winters (counting this one) the population is booming. I can go shining here at night (one of the last great hunting traditions left) with my friends in October and we can see a few hundred just in a square block. Yet the DNR says we are losing the heard and give out less anterless tags while pushing the APR. That's certainly interesting. I'm not sure which situation I'd want yours or mine. I don't want that many deer around, but I'd sure like to be able to see 3-7 deer a night while bow hunting.

I think there is allot more to the reduction in deer hunting participation buy our youth than poor deer hunting. Urbanization of society and changes in interest probably have more to do with it though poor deer hunting has a negative effect.
Hunting was different years ago and I do miss allot of the guys that were in deer camp. Hard to say if deer camp would work and if we would enjoy the same chemistry as we all have changed.
In Minnesota I think the DNR has put hunters between a rock and a hard place and that's why many people are searching for something better like APR's. If they limited the doe harvest, got rid of cross tagging and increased the herd allot of these things would go away. Lets face it recruitment would go up if our youth could go hunting and see a bunch a deer on every sit instead of seeing little to nothing during the season.

If I could grow brassica or something like that I would have to fence off the entire acre food plot to give it any chance at all.

BV, With those kind of densities, the deer around my place would starve to death come the first winter. I have no ag fields around to speak of. Wow!

I guess the one thing I've never picked up on is you MN guys being blood thirsty. Don't get me wrong killing anterless is fun too but I don't think APR would fix your problem when most of you do it anyways?

The MN Fudd's do not follow the stylings of the MN guys who use this site, polar opposites.........the MN Fudd's blindly follow the MN DNR's rhetoric of kill-'em-all. And all APR's do in that regard is force those guys to shoot a doe when they do not see a legal buck if they want meat in the freezer.

Don't assign characteristics to MN deer hunters as a whole based on this group. If anything, most of the MN guys on here are anomalies...not the norm.

I throw in some radish seed with my WR as soon as it pops, he gone! They never make it past an inch tall. WR is king for me with some oats on this ground its what I can do. Now there is a darker loam patch that I can get some decent clover/chicory to grow but the ground moves when you walk or drive on it so, tractors yee be warned.

I am concerned about the CWD that is spreading from the Lansing area around the state, look I bet CWD is pretty much everywhere and it just was never highly tested, etc. I don't view it much diff than EHD or whatever else kills off critters. However in those areas 'eradicate' has been the answer, if that swings over to this side of the state i fear that could be the end of the whole damn thing. Around Lansing they are tranquilizing anterless deer and spaying them.

Ya, I saw the spaying on fb. People are certainly stupid to pay taxes for that.
