The ag fields nearest me got planted to corn last week. Seems awfully early Time wise it’s time to go, especially if you have a lot of acres to cover. Seed health, Plant health and seed stress wise? In the bag is better.

In the bag is better. These guys have a lot of acres. They have land all over the place. I am almost positive I've never seen corn planted here in April, but I could be wrong. I want to say right around May 7-10 was the earliest I've seen it before.

26 degrees this morning here at the farm in Mora. Ground temps are way cold right now. All my seed is still in the bags. Slow start for me. On purpose. I have some time scheduled for the end of next week to plant, 13th-16th, I hope that works as its probably going in one way or another. Hopefully some warmer temps stay for awhile.

Zero rain in the 10 day forecast. So much for all those evergreens I planted this year...

I've planted a crp blend along with an oat/pea mix, but I'll wait a couple weeks to plant soybeans and corn.
The soil is cool enough that even the oats are slow to grow.

I'm heading up this weekend and was planning to get my first spray in. But, It seems like it might be a waste of time. I plan to spray the skinny plot three times this Spring/Summer with the third being on planting day. I'm putting it into clover/chicory with a WR nurse.
What the hell. I'll just wait for the warmest time of the day and let it rip. There was a lot of shit growing already last time I was up. After this Summer I'm hoping to just mow this section of plot a couple times a Summer, nothing else, for a few years. I'll probably end up frost seeding random clover blends every year too, because I won't be able to help it.
I'd also considered trying to get the buckwheat down in the new plot, but I'll wait until June for that I think.

Man, it is dry out there. Places where I should have water in early May are bone dry.

We could be headed for some trouble when it comes to oil seeds. Wouldn't curse if my place got to D2 or D3 by July. That would be super for digging.

Another frosty morning. Maybe the last of the season? Its frosty here through Thursday night. I tell you at my daughters track meet last night I froze my ass off! Supposed to be 30 tonight, 29 Weds night, and 32 Thursday night before Friday nights in the 40s and the remainder should stay that way.
Yowza!
