^^^the drought monitor last year was inaccurate for my location. That said, what kept much of MN out of drought status for quite awhile last year was the record or near record snow pack. I agree that last year we started early spring wet, but then slowly dried out as the spring/summer progressed. This year down here was the opposite - we started very dry, but slowly seemed to have gained some soil moisture. I really hope this wet weather pattern can continue into July and August.

2” last night. Jeesh I’m really soggy. Starting to really doubt if I’ll get my sunflower plot planted.

Had a light rain earlier tonight.....and now an absolute downpour. Rains are coming thru regularly and with decent quantity. Gotta hope this holds for the summer.

Should of planted rice this year. I'm completely saturated. One good thing about my sandy land....is by tommorow afternoon I could be doing field work and have almost no rutting on my land. (then there is the downside....lol).

(then there is the downside....lol). Mines the opposite. I can live with an inch of rain for weeks. My heavy soils hold moisture for days. I'm sitting on an inch so far this evening and it looks like I could get that much more yet from looking at the radar.

(then there is the downside....lol). My wife grew up on a dairy farm with heavy soil. After a few years, she has said she is so happy on lighter soil. When we need rain, often my in laws are still struggling to get a crop in. I know that when her Dad was alive, we had August drought and her Dad’s corn was growing like gang busters.
