Holy shit...been waiting until 6ish in the evening to mow one section by the Wiccan neighbor. The fucking deer flies were unreal. Swollen hands from 10 bazillion bites. I mowed that piece one week ago exactly. I lifted the deck to 3.5 then. I left it there today. I could bale the clippings. I'm sick of mowing I have a "bug-out" jacket for bear hunting. A cammo / cheesecloth affair with a hood and face shield too. Also gloves like that. Used to wear that set-up when mowing with my open station tractor at this time of year to protect from the deer flies. Saved my bacon. Are you bear hunting this year?

Nobody got a license in my family (0 for four). Was just looking to see if there are any unused tags in our area. Not sure. I do not apply as I am now a non-resident and the price for non residents is nuts. Nobody seems to hunt bears in our area. I should just dig some holes and hope they fall in....grin. If anyone has a tag and wants to have a good shot at a decent bear.....I may have a deal for you.

There still are far more turkeys than bears… hmm, maybe we need unlimited tags.

Yet another good rain event! Nearly 1.5" here at the lake tonight thus far. Great summer to grow things in my area.

The two plots I did today were out in the open and had a breeze and skeets weren’t bad. Deep in the woods it’s total brutality.

No highs over 78 in the 14 day forecast. Sounds good to me

I ran a chainsaw and hand brush cutter today and it was brutal. The 10 day forecast looks much better though, so I’m ready for that.

Spread some brassicas/rye . I hope for some rain this week! I don’t have any rye yet, but I seeded a corner of my garden with turnips and radishes. A winter spearing buddy farms two miles from me. Turnips and radishes also get very little use for him on his farm. He has hunting land about 15 miles away in a wooded environment and they get used over there.
