102 K? MN had 145 K? What the hell is going on over there?

Everybody "forgetting" to register their deer that no longer require tags?

Everybody "forgetting" to register their deer that no longer require tags? Yep. And then go out and shoot another. 3 years Wisconsin will be in worse shape than Minnesota.

Everybody "forgetting" to register their deer that no longer require tags? If this is truly happening, which I agree with, damn WI is going to kill a lot of deer over the next x years and then join us MN'ers in the deer density blues

Plenty of areas in WI where the herd has already been whittled down considerably. I fear WI may indeed be on the same track as MN

That is what happens when you let politicians make rules that they know nothing about. They just could not leave well enough alone with what was working. How does the saying go, if it ain't broke don't fix it.

For years the DNR has caught flak for not reaching herd size goals.

For years the DNR has caught flak for not reaching herd size goals. That is very possible. All I know is I have herd more shooting than I have ever herd. Both the week before and the week of gun season. Now they say the deer kill is down. Something doesn't add up.

Yep. And then go out and shoot another. 3 years Wisconsin will be in worse shape than Minnesota. It's been going downhill in our area for years and they just keep pounding the smaller herd. Classic MN scenario.

I guess the "good ol' days" of deer hunting have come and gone. I feel sorry for future generations of deer hunters (or those who would have been with reasonable deer herds to hunt)
