Just checked this evening. One had small green leaves, the other nada. I'd checked my over wintered ones at home earlier this week. The largest one didn't have much bud swelling up at the top but there as some lower on the trunk. The wood was green near the top so I think it's fine. Some others had swollen buds. I was hoping I could move them to my camp and plant next weekend but, it may be too late. I'll grow them at home again this year and plant in the fall. That'll give a few of them their 3rd year. They may make 9-10' this year if I do that though I'll have to bend them to get in under my truck cap.

I believe this is an Oikos chestnut but, it's fully leafed out. The dunstans nearby aren't leafed yet.

I forgot to mention his 3 apple trees had a huge fruit set. The neighbor has several bee hives there year round.

The tree I was worried about is showing some life, but I think the main leader is dead. I will give it some time, buy I think I will have to stake the branch upright to form new leader.

Kabic,
I'd scratch the top of that leader to see if it's green. If it is I'd wait some more. I have a larger one at home that was like that and now has swollen buds and a few leaves popped. If it's brown I'd cut back above a bud and check for more green. Keep in mind a later awakening tree may be Mother Nature's way of protecting it.

Has anybody heard from wildfire?
I wonder if his chestnuts survived this last winter.
