I'm thinking strongly about buying a new tractor with a cab to replace my open station JD 3320. My tractor is absolutely great.....but somehow as I am getting older my allergies are getting worse. After I mow for a day.....it takes me three days (or more) to recover. My eyes get swollen and water profusely. Then there are the hornets and the deer flies that bite the chit out of me. Not to mention the rain and the heat and cold.
Anyway.......I guess I can afford the cab tractor and I dont need the money when I am gone.......so I think I'm gonna swallow hard and buy a cab tractor.
I looked at the JD and the Kubota brands. After looking at good used.....I decided I would not save much to buy them.....so it's gonna be a new one. Looking at a JD 3039r or a Kubota 4060 cab. Both with hydro and both with cabs and loaders.
I think I would buy the 'boata"......but if I do I need to buy a bucket, a grapple, and a wider rear cutter......and pay about 5 K more. So.....at this point I think I will buy the Deere and get some wheel spacers on the back to provide a bit more tippy protection. (My current tractor is not an issue....but the cab adds some weight to the top.....and Deeres are known to be a bit narrow). Anyway....its a pretty cheap fix.
I figure I should do this now.....rather than wait a few years.....and put up with the issues above.......and then do it when I dont have that many more years to go. ----- Funny how you rationalize stuff as you get older......grin.
I recently also considered buying a Jeep Rubicon.....or a 37 Ford Street Rod......but the tractor idea has "won out". HUGE grin.
If somebody needs a good 3320 open station (650 hours ?) let me know......or I think I will trade it soon. I sure hope I am doing the right thing....as I have loved this 3320. Not sure there is a better "woods tractor" .....if you got timber. My land is now better to own the cab.....but I would not have dreamed of a cab tractor several years ago.
Seems like allot of luxury for this old body.......but it's not getting any easier to care for this land. Not sure I will do the work in five years or so......Times change...... Funny how I have a need to "justify" what I want to do. Smile.
