I just looked at my Bur Oaks again...
Absolutely full. The deer will be fat and happy.

My driveway is covered daily. Been that way for a couple weeks. We blow it off every day.

Sorry I could not put a picture of my deck on here. More than 100 on there today, after my grand daughter picked them off for me to give to the deer.

I did some staring up into the sky today. Two big things hit me square in the face. First, my plot oaks are loaded with acorns. Two, despite record rains this year, my oaks are showing very little sign of anthracnose. I can’t help but wonder if the lime and total fertility didn’t help that. I really need to look at some untreated oaks to see if there’s a difference.

When i I look at oaks on my property now I always look up to the crowns to see if they're encroached by other trees. The ones I opened up last winter really responded this year.

I think bur is all I have. Hairy acorn caps, deep valleys in the leaves and what not. You coach me on when and how to get them, I’ll send ya some. No problem man. And they’re all 35-45’ tall I suppose.

I can send Bur if you want some. We'll have gobs of them, but they won't come front northern trees if that is what you are after.

I'll send you northern reds and some whites if you want them. I’m not sure if they’ll grow on my land. There are reds all over the neighborhood, but I’ve only found 1 on my property. My land is flat and saturated 2/3 of the growing season, so if it’s not geared towards wet soil, it’s not gonna be found on my place.

I've got a couple moist spots that I've seen the reds in.

There is oak savanas all over MN. Most are in sandy soils, but lost due to agriculture.

Four wheeler first, then I can get back to having a skid steer for a day each year. I've got some low spots where I think I could scrounge up a good pile of topsoil. Then dig 'em down even deeper and have a fill pile as well, and then be left with a water hole.

Those high spots could also be bedding areas in wet years. Maybe other years as well.
