If I have any free time, I try to fuck..... Nothing wrong with trying Mo! The wife kicks me out of the house once in a while though (twice in the same day is rare).

Decided to go ahead and crank on it pretty hard. A loud "pop" later and I found this crack. After looking close I concluded that it shouldn't matter as the wormhole broke the backing there anyway. Think I'll use superglue to try to patch it together.

^ On the laminated bow I made and on traditional recurve bows the width is consistent but the limb is thinner away from the grip. That will be a challenge, how thin to go to achieve what you want without compromising the limb. At the very end of the limb recurves to narrow. I think the lamination process makes the limb strong but flexible, I wold thin the limb and based on trial and error figure out if that wood works and how the limb needs to designed.

How much for a piece? I girdled some ironwood to dry at a place I sold and never took the wood to build a self bow. But I would rather have osage.

I would flat our give you all the hedge you wanted if you could come pick it up, otherwise shipping would be killer. If you want me to find a long and straight log, split it by hand, whittle it down into a stave, and then ship it to you it wouldn't be so cheap. In fact my skills in that area would probably leave you better off finding a stave dealer and buying what you want as I've only split two logs now and both had issues. Your boy probably makes selfbows doesn't he?

Love the project. My dad’s place has a lot of Osage but I don’t think I’ve seen anything straight enough to make a bow.
