At least the seed I got from deer creek was two years in a row. You're right. I wasn't thinking about the seed coating. Good call Let me know if you notice any re-seeding of the Fixation Will do. Wherever I missed the first time I sprayed (had 1qt/acre 24d in the mixture) the fixation grew nicely this year. It had some very long prostrate growth and pretty white flowers. Last weekend, it was starting to get brown and shrivel. Thing is, I spread more already so I'm not sure how I'll tell what's re-seed and what's me-seed.

Ya, the only way you'll know is if you ever skip a year seeding the stuff. I had some light re-seeding in the past, but it certainly wasn't enough to keep the stand going on it's own.

My fall balansa didn't survive the winter Do you recall when you planted it? edit...I was trying to remember last fall/early winter. There was a period of time here without snow cover, I think most of December? That could have done in your balansa

My frosty berseem clover came in nice and the deer are in it. Some weeds but i couldn't do much about that being 1800 miles away. Think i may plant it solo again or in a mix.

You'll be back in MN for firearm season, right? I'd like to know how the frosty looks in November. If the stuff stays green through November it would certainly be worth growing.

Yeah, it looks like it unless I'm in big rig school at work. Might be driving semi's at night if the opportunity comes up.

Just got back from the Bertha property and checked on this plot. Looks like the deer hammered it after the crops were harvested. Nothing over 6" tall and all brown stems. Being my deer aren't much for clover it's pretty impressive. Can't tell how long it stayed green because i didn't get up here until last week and it'd had already froze hard. I'd plant it again probably in a mix.

Question for you guys who plant frosty berseem. I'm thinking of trying to broadcast clover into my corn and beans, how did it germinate on bare ground? My process would be to plant my corn and beans and after they are established broadcast clover and maybe DER into the Rows. The rows should be pretty clean but I won't be able to drag the seed in.
The goal is to provide food for the deer that will be around late in the season and provide some N credits for next year.

On sand, I have my doubts about how well it would do. On decent loam, it would do fine.

Too much competition from other plants can steal moisture and reduce corn yield on sand. I would only try it on a small portion of the field. Each year will be different depending on August rains or lack of them.
