Been looking over the line of Honda ATVs. I also had a talk with a guy in Wisconsin about that flail mower and what kind of specs you need to be able to run it. The guy mentioned that the smallest rig they've put one on is a 400cc model. It got me to thinking about wear and ability to operate if I got the sizing wrong. So I started checking specs.
The Honda Rancher is a 420cc engine with 485lbs total hauling capacity (rider, gear, and implements).
The Honda Foreman is a 518cc engine with 550lbs total hauling capacity (rider, gear, and implements).
That mower is 210lbs, but also hangs out over the front. I'm 200lbs. So...
I'm leaning towards the larger Foreman. I can't help but think putting too much weight on a smaller machine will lead to it getting thrown around by that mower, and likely lead to more wear and tear from over-working it. Would you still put heavier front springs in it to help keep the bouncing down?

Do either or both of those models have power steering? I'd think that would be essential for that mower.

Get the foreman. I have one and wouldnt go smaller. You probably will still need to stiffen the front springs

I pulled 2000 lbs of shit with it in 1st gear slow back to the plot. She works good. Having said that Chris I would suggest you get the Foreman since this is your only machine. Better to go bigger for you in my opinion.

My Rancher pulled this 14' trailer will all that material on it. No would not want to do it everyday but it did great. And pulled my packer which is pretty heavy too.

I think the point I'm making is Honda seems to severely under rate their machines true capabilities.

I think the point I'm making is Honda seems to severely under rate their machines true capabilities. I'm not too concerned about towing capability. I don't have much to tow. It's hauling that I could see destroying a machine quickly.

I'm happy with my Honda Rancher, but your flail mower might justify jumping up to a larger model. I use a snow plow on the front of my Rancher and it does fine, but I'm sure that your flail mower weighs more than that. Is there any way to take a flail mower for a test drive for a couple hours just to see how it handles?

Are you sure you don't want to consider a UTV instead They more stout? Absolutely. They're also a hell of a lot nicer for hauling stuff around your land and not needing a trailer
