This was the good news. Bad news is, I had mixed results on the wide mouth jars. I pulled the bands this morning and 22 of my 54 had weak seals. I swapped out the wide mouth jars for regular with what I had and am reprocessing them now. I think part of my problem was that I tightened the lids down too hard on the first batch, cause that’s where 3/4 of the fails came from. I had two lids buckle on that batch, and that means too tight.

You don't have the lid tightener that sets it for you?

Never knew such a thing existed. Is it like a torque wrench? I can't find much for verbage on the function of it, just that it's handy for old married farts that don't maintain their hand strength.

Pretty much. It has 2 arrows you match up and that's it. Perfectly snug. Haven't had 1 blow out or not seal after that.

Also being single your grip might be a little stronger then most men and thus the over-tightening and jars not getting sealed.

I just got done cutting up and going over my bear. Did a little trimming and pulled off hair the butcher missed. Now I'll let it finish thawing and then get to whistler wigglin in a few hours.

Got the first batch of bear in the cooker. Gonna take 2 batches tonight. Looking like 20lbs from the non-wrapped stuff. Cat already worn out from bringing in the harvest this weekend.

I tighten mine barely finger tight (slightly more tight than you would screw on a peanut butter jar lid. Never ever had a jar leak. Actually had a jar of pasta sauce tip and lay on its side in the canner during the whole process and still sealed fine.

Bob hasn’t chewed the ac adapter on that MacBook or iPhone? Nope. Mr. Tooters always ate phone cords. The Bobber has never done it. He’ll use it as leverage in a negotiation, but never needed to follow through.
