Stefan is from Quebec so English is a second language. Here is gives some interesting reasons for his top 5 apples. One that he chooses is Spartan, not because of its disease resistance but, because it produces heavy crops. He figures if you have squirrels it’s good to have heavy bearers so they they have plenty to choose from.

I have a spartan I purchased from SLN. This will be its third year but its planted on some pretty bad soil. I need to fertilize the trees I have in that area.

He says in the video that it's not a great apple but, for him it's a strong producer year after year so for us deer folks it sounds like a good apple. Hopefully yours makes a big pop in growth this year.

I have a Spartan from Turkey Creek on b118 that I planted in 2015. It hasn't grown well for me and hasn't had a blossom yet. Maybe this year

Ultimate Apple challenge. Think these will handle MN winters? Hahaha Sounds like China has taken over the marketing of this apple then since they control Tibet. I’ve never heard of it.

^^^I've seen that apple discussed in a few places. The consensus is that the pic was a red delicious photoshopped to look black.

You older guys remember Earl Shibe(sp)...."I'll paint any car for $99.99". I wonder if he expanded his business to now include apples 😃
