Hawkins mill said white oak is up close to the red oak now at $160-180 cord. Red is $180-205 for prime saw logs. Nothing under 12”.

I was surprised to see so many loads of wood chips and the revenue that provided. I think allot of those chips go to Duluth and are burned for power. Also leaves less trash behind. Win / Win. If you can get Rod Engstrom to log your land.....I think you would be happy with the outcome. He is out of the Motley / Pillager area. Not a huge concern.....but he has all the right stuff and is fair to work with. Leaves the trees you want.....and will work with you. I'd hire him again in a heartbeat.

See what happens but may be able to retain some aspects of the parcel and sell it to the county for an Off Road Park. Dont know much about these things but I may get uber lucky on this one.

Years back, I was told that pastured oak stands puts black streaks in it and then it is not fit for oak trim or other high quality work. I can’t remember if they were referring to red or white oak. Probably red???

My Dad and uncle had some land with some great white pine. They cut in the winter and paid to have it hauled to a mill, and paid to have it sawed. When they got done they had to work at the saw mill to break even after they sold the lumber. Moral, let the experts do it.

Don't listen to Art. I watch Axe men twice a week and I'm pretty sure you can do it.

$400K in timber value on 315 acres? Is the place full of old growth veneer logs or what?
