Interesting graphic from a rifle zone in northern MN. Clearly rifles are more danger than shotguns. They have been killing more hunters than deer in this area for years. My Dad always said, “Liars figure!” The first part of it was”Figures Lie!”

But how do they taste ? Northwoods deer spend their lives running from wolves and sqwatch while dining on moose shit and mold. Not good. The hunters of northern MN rarely bathe and think fish soaked in lye is food. Can't even smoke the rank out of that.

Funny thing about this rifle use statewide.........is that I don't remember the citizens or sportsman's groups demanding to have the use of rifles statewide. Not sure where / who started this effort?

Used to be a couple guys here and there. DNR always claimed it was a social issue when quizzed on the topic. Claimed they were neutral. This year it's the DNR's idea. They know it will lower deer numbers in many areas and want it to happen.

2nd amendment folks. Want to prevent the sentiment of "if hunters only need shotguns, that's all people need to own."

I've never heard that idea promoted. Not saying it isn't so....just never heard it said. I wonder if the insurance industry has some ideas here.

This is what I've always thought as well. The less guns to use for hunting, the less guns people will have.

This is what I've always thought as well. The less guns to use for hunting, the less guns people will have. One gun I would hate to come up against is a 12 gauge shotgun with buckshot. Lucky there are not more of those commonly used in the hood. as said earlier.....I don't recall any major effort from the public at rifles in the old shotgun zones. Always fearful of some agenda by the lefties. After seeing the ammo shortages of these past few years....I can see how the government could buy up all the available ammo and we could be SOL for many years to come. Folks shoot so much more than they did when I was young. Target shooting was a very limited thing back in the day. We would shoot a few clay birds to learn....and I remember a very limited amount of 'turkey shoot" at the fair grounds. Use a few bullets to sight in at a pie plate....and you were good to go. Shooting up a whole box of ammo was a rare event for me until I was maybe 30 years old. Most of our ammo was shot at game.....of course we shot allot more ammo in the field.

I havent shot any guns except my shotgun for sporting clays for 2 years. There they all sit unused. I will shoot my 9mm this summer, I got a 1000 rd case from Guns and Gear in St Cloud recently at just under 30 cents around so that was good I felt.

I found My stash of .22 short and burned it all up but about 100 rounds in my first couple days staying at the farmhouse.
Those damn metal clinky target that you can flip up and reset just by shooting are addictive.

I have never shot a round of trap and my shotgun shooting shoes it. As a kid I once shot at 7 clay targets so my Dad could figure which gun fit me best. We traded guns. I pretty much learned to shoot shotgun by hunting ducks. Pass shooting divers, shooting over decoys, and jump shooting in the wild rice and creeks. We never target shot much because of lack of dollars.

I would much rather be in the woods looking around or on the lake fishing. I wish I had a good river boat.

I've been reloading since I was 18. Back then it was super cheap to get reloading components and everything was available. I'd get just about any rifle shooting under an inch at 100 yards by working the load, free floating the barrel, or bedding the action. I wouldn't be satisfied unless a gun shot perfectly.
I'd go threw a hundred rounds a week pretty often. Loved tinkering with a gun until I got it the way I wanted it.
