47 in a night, what an animal! What did we graft this year? NH are you an orchardist or a hobbyist? I'm working on a list after I finish tonight. I'm not sure what I am. I'll find a spot for some of these. Give some away to friends and plant several at my nieces home. They've got 3 acres of field for them. .

My kinda guy, you doing ones you'll have to spray also? Initially, when I started a few years ago I thought I'd be spraying and I soon found out I don't have time to spray effectively now. In addition, the cider guys I have spoke to who'd be interested in buying apples down the road don't want any that have been sprayed so I probably won't be spraying down the road either. I've got lots of old apples that survived without any spraying so that's going to be my route.

Bench grafting is complete for this year. All done on B118 rootstock. I ended up grafting 95 of the 100 rootstock. 5 did not have enough roots for me to consider grafting them. I'll plant those in roottrapper bags for this year. I've got some scion wood left for top working a few trees in April if my wife agrees to let them stay in the fridge another month. I did one Whip and tongue and the rest were cleft grafts. I just can't seem to do a good job with the W&T so I stick with the clefts. Some of my scions were small so that I needed to do clefts anyways. I'm guessing I average about 10-12 grafts an hour.
Day One: Westmoreland 4 NH Gold 6 Orange 5 NH Red Deer Crab 5 Padleys Pippin 2 Kids Orange red 2 Williams Pride 2 Bramleys Seedling 3 Black Gilliflower 3 Otterson 2 Falliwater 2 Dabinett 4 Black Ben Davis 2 Merton Worcester 2 Browns Apple 4
Day 2:
White Jersey 3 Wolf River 3 Colby Baldwin 3 Old Pearmain 3 Granite Beauty 5 Porter 4 Keegan's Crab 4 Hubbardston Nonesuch 5 Pine Golden Pippin 5 Whitney Crab 5 Wealthy 4 Liberty 4

Well I had an "oh shit" moment. Through all of the grafting I forgot I had some extremely rare Colorado Orange scions that needed to be done. I got them mixed up with my own Orange scions. So I just finished grafting 4 more. I took the rootstock from two of the liberties and used two that I where border line. I'll plant those deep and let it bur more roots. Hopefully at least one of the four takes.

Ya, I'd sacrifice Liberty for those CO Orange scions too. Liberty is an easy get. Hope you have success with at least one of them

All of a sudden it hit when I'd cleaned everything up and was half asleep. I'm confident one will make it.
