I just got the call from the Stihlership. My saw is ready to be picked up. Don't know the scoop yet, just got a voicemail.

I was going to take mine in the other day but decided to try it one more time. It fired right up and ran clean and smooth.
I have no idea why I couldn’t get it running the other day.

I was going to take mine in the other day but decided to try it one more time. It fired right up and ran clean and smooth. I have no idea why I couldn’t get it running the other day. Ends up mine was flooded. That's it. There was a $45 diagnosis charge (credited back towards any repairs). The first guy put in the wrong handle, too thick of rope, and flooded the piss out of it. I had a $9 charge after the $45 to fix it. I asked the dude to keep it and do a tuneup. He said, "It's running great, keep it." He said if I really wanted to do some preventative, he showed me the how to pull apart and clean the spark arrester. The rest I knew how to do anyway. I asked about the diagnosis charge when I went in, and the dude told me they had to start doing that cause people would bring them old pieces of shit to see what was wrong. When they were told they're junk they'd abandon that crap there and not have paid a dime. I'm pleased. That other guy can eat one.

I thought about it being flooded. But I dunno. It was running for hours. I shut it off, and it sat for a couple hours. Then I picked it up and tried to start it without priming it. It didn't go. Then I primed it like I always do when starting out.... Whatever. It's running sharp now. My little electric needed a workout anyway.

SD,
That's good that it's up and running. I'd still think about a second saw so you have a back up. If you were closer I'd get you the late nephew's Husquvarna 120. It would be good for small stuff and limbing. I think he used it once. I think my niece still has it.

Hey, send it back with the other one! Maybe she could get it in her carry on.

Next time you can't get a saw started after it had been running great, try starting it while pulling the throttle at the same time. Works for a flooded saw most every time.

Thanks Smith! I'll try that for sure.

Nobody keeps a can of ether on hand? First fix every time. Back in my younger day's I did a lot of drag racing on the street. I had a 70 buick GS stage III with a 455 with ram air, as one of many ars I had over time. It didn't take me long to blow it up and then I really rebuilt it. Cam, head work, tuned holly, cutouts on the exhaust. Didn't lose very often. One guy I couldn't beat consistantly had a 455 firebird. I routed a hose to the ram air system and had a can of either connected to it. When I topped out in RPM in 3rd I give the can a good shot. Maybe it was my iminagation but I swear it give it a boost.

That is one sweet car! I bet you wish you still had it. I have similar stories from my demo and figure-8 days. I bet it did give it a boost and up your RPM's a little. 455's love high RPM's.

It would be first pick, 2nd would be a 66 ford galixie 500 xl 2 dr auto on the floor with a built 302. It was a real sleeper car.

So my chainsaw was working then suddenly it wasn’t. Thought about asking on here but talked it thru with a coworker who is a fix it type of guy.
I had a spark. I had compression. I was convinced I needed a new carb. He said let me take it home and tinker with it. Gave it to him today at lunch. He called tonight and asked if I wanted the bad news or good news first.
Good news. The chainsaw is fine.
Bad news. Some dumb ass topped the fuel tank off with bar oil. He emptied the tank. Put in fresh gas and it fired right up. It put out a lot of smoke but then is fine. The dumbass is me because nobody else had touched it.
He had suggested draining the tank before I gave it to him. I didn’t because I KNEW I had fresh fuel in it. It had just been running the day before. If I would have listened to all of his suggestions I could have kept my stupidity secret. Now he knows so I thought I would post it for your guys too.

I did the exact same thing once. Well except for letting someone else discover my dumbassery. I confirmed that myself.
