So my chainsaw was working then suddenly it wasn’t. Thought about asking on here but talked it thru with a coworker who is a fix it type of guy. I had a spark. I had compression. I was convinced I needed a new carb. He said let me take it home and tinker with it. Gave it to him today at lunch. He called tonight and asked if I wanted the bad news or good news first. Good news. The chainsaw is fine. Bad news. Some dumb ass topped the fuel tank off with bar oil. He emptied the tank. Put in fresh gas and it fired right up. It put out a lot of smoke but then is fine. The dumbass is me because nobody else had touched it. He had suggested draining the tank before I gave it to him. I didn’t because I KNEW I had fresh fuel in it. It had just been running the day before. If I would have listened to all of his suggestions I could have kept my stupidity secret. Now he knows so I thought I would post it for your guys too. Dad did that once and actually admitted it to me. He did so in a "teaching moment"...I learned
