A little off topic; but you guys who are retiring and jumping ship to other states... was this always your plan or did you change your mind at some point? I ask because my lifelong goal was to move out of town and live out retirement in the country. I'm working closer and closer to that and see absolutely no chance of even considering changing my mind. Any of you guys that are switching things up used to feel like I do? There was an enormous amount of planning/ designing/down sizing for us (about 3 years) Lots to consider with family and money, especially at a younger than typical age for retirement. We decided to live in MN as farmers and spend the winters in the south. For us, the simplest and most economical way to meet our goals. The saying of measure twice and cut once couldn't be more true...imho

Careful Mo. You are painting a picture that might scare smallchunk away even if the school board is buying.

I don’t think small town America will exist if Biden and the libs take control. They plan to tie federal funding for states to requiring integration. So with all the new illegals and problem people they’ll send them to red states to turn them blue. You’ve seen some of it in Minnesota. I’ve seen it in Maine. They’re close to taking Texas because the NO people they sent their during the hurricane aftermath never went back to NO. They’ve got it figured out how many and where they need to ship people to take control of states. Hopefully I’m wrong but, throw in the open borders, defund the police and all the other BS and the shit shows you’ve seen in Seattle, Portland, Chicago, NY will be common all across the country.

When you get into your mid-seventies.......and you got a few health issues......and it's 90 degrees outside and humid.......about the last thing I want to deal with is a fracking lawn mower. Conversely when it's -10 degrees and snowing......I dont want to deal with a snow blower or a shovel. FORE! ^ Was just thinking.......and I have not mowed my lawn or shoveled snow in quite some time. Decided it was more practical to hire it done.....compared to buying a zero turn, and etc. The only yard work I do is a little with flowers (my wife does most of that) and work at my hunting land. I do run a leaf blower and blow dust off the patio and driveway. THO.....SOME of this work is no doubt good for a person. That "work" can be replaced by GOLF. FORE!

Thanks Foggy. I didn't think of the driving thing. We've just always assumed an hour of drive time is a part of life. Driving an hour one way to grocery shop in KS during the winter is likely quite different than driving an hour one way to grocery shop in more northerly locations. I drive about 30 minutes now to grocery shop and know that when I'm in my 70s I won't be doing that anymore. I'll drive 10-15 minutes to a smaller store closer to home....or maybe I won't live here anymore. That idea is sounding better and better as MN becomes more and more of a fuckin' shithole

Auction will shorten that timeframe down real quick! Auction doesn't let me control the prices...... Nope, unless you put a reserve on them. Anything left afterwards goes back on Marketplace. You could have a school board buddy show up and help bid the prices up... nobody would ever suspect that!

I got 2 years to pedal shit on my own.

Just had a Mpls cop here tonight to buy 20 bags of soybean seed he lives in Cambridge. I didn't know he was a cop until I asked him why he was planting so late. Said He has been working 7 days a week, finally has a few days off to plant. I asked what kind of work he did is when he said Mpls cop. I thanked him for what he has been going through and gave him a great deal on some beans. Man the guy looked wore out.

I do those things because I need the exercise and figure it does me good. However, I am ten years behind you and I wonder if I will be on this place at age 75. Still planting and grafting apple trees, but I need something to do and enjoy being outside.. fishing, hunting, mowing, or working with apple trees. Foodplots are not the interest they used to be. I am not interested in the magic bean as much as I was in the past.

I plan on being at least 6 months and one day out of this state. It is so sad because it is such a beautiful state but the Dems have made it impossible to stay. They will get my money for 10-15 more years than hopefully it is bye bye.

They will get my money for 10-15 more years than hopefully it is bye bye. In OZ....I have run into so many folks like you (and me). Most are from MN, WI, MI, OR, WA, and allot of Canadians too ......but we have a number from the northeast as well. I think most folks from the Northeast seem to gravitate to Florida or the Carolina coast tho. We checked a few places in FL (argh!).....but never really checked out the Carolina's or GA. Some folks appear to like those areas. Dunno. We decided that you cannot look forever.....and chose OZ.....and never looked back. Built two new homes there....so I suppose we like it. . It's all good. Edit: I think what we found in OZ that we did not find in other parts of the world......were people that were most like the place we come from. Not such a fast-paced, fight for your space, world like we found in Florida. Texas, California and New Mexico did not measure up for us. States to the North are too cold in Winter.......so.......OZ became our home. I'm sure there are many other places that will work for others.
