That sucks. Why don’t they add more help? Need to find a way to shut the work off when you go home. They've been trying but can't keep up. Everyone is ordering stuff like crazy still and it doesn't look like it's gonna stop anytime soon. Can you (do you) refuse overtime hours? Been wondering about the pressure on deliveries. Lots of on-line business now. Seems we buy more stuff that way every month.

I might be bucking the trend, but I have been buying more things locally rather than on line or big box stores. Local hardware stores and lumber yard might be a few bucks higher, but great service and advice. Of course, my community is probably ten plus times smaller.

I'm in a completely different industry but this whole thing is taking it's toll on me too. I used to be out and about meeting with customers and whatnot. Now, I'm on back to back conference calls all day from home with zero time between meetings to gather thoughts or double check your work. The expectation is that you'll do the double checking, mandatory training, prepping presentations, updating salesforce, following up with customers and prospects..... in what people would normally think of as "after hours".
It's piling up and making me anxious, angry, cranky, inexact, and miserable. But I guess I'm lucky to have a job.

I also feel this will be a bad week for many with the full moon coming up. Things will improve by Sunday. Sounds weird, but I think thie full moon puts stress on people (and animals).

I refuse overtime I'm out of a job.

I fully believe the full moon affects people. Sometimes you wonder what the hell is going on when it seems like every kid within a mile is half crazy (more than normal). I do a ton of "after hours" work. I've been at the school since 6:00am this morning, still here close to 7:00pm, not even close to ready for tomorrow. Most of my posting on this site is to take a break from work (including on the weekends) otherwise I try to stay away from the computer. This covid thing has made everything 10x's harder here. The trainings, the paperwork, the new regulations, the zooming and recording, etc... but like kooch said; at least I have a job! I never dreamed of refusing overtime when I was clocking in at the machine shop. Figured they would find someone willing to work and replace me if I didn't do it.

Honestly, do the cranky old dudes in the paint department at Lowes get medical benefits? Maybe that's my next job. I believe I could leave that one at work when I left for the day.

I've always put in long hours.....just was the way it was for me. Was not unusaal to work 12 or 15 hour days....sometimes 6 days a week. Of course for me.....at least when I worked for others......I was often traveling and this was before cell phone and computer and texting. Not sure I could operate the way many do today. You lose allot of creativity time. I liked having an hour or three of travel when nobody could reach me. .

The phone rings. Every single time you try to take time off.

Then I got a Motorola "Bag Phone" and I carried that thing everywhere I went. Had an antenna on the back window......and I could sell aluminum while driving down the highway. My first roaming charges would total about $1700 per month! They asked if I cut cut that down a bit.....and I told them "yeah, if you want me to sell less extrusions". Little by little the roaming charges were reduced to what they are today. But in the early days they were crazy. Nobody had texting or much for email yet. Lots of business done with a fax machine for orders. Feels like the olden days now. In my own business.....I had one of the early web sites and shopping carts. I well remember opening our site each morning to look at all the orders we had for each day. Sometimes the retail orders would pay the bills for the whole day....without any distributor or dealer orders! I loved that part of the biz.....the (high margin) retail money would just roll in. What a great county!

One good thing about having my hunting place in the middle of the Kooch is cell coverage.
It’s hit and miss. It’s not a lie to say, “Phone coverage is hit and miss. I may not get your call or message until I get back closer to town. “

One thing that comes with a good job is allot of work, particularly anybody who exchanges hours for dollars. Companies have leaned out everything to the point where there are allot of demands on workers.
like allot of us on this board I have went to work in the dark and came home in the dark, traveled and sacrificed time for money. When I was younger it did not bother me so much but I have less time to give and more money than time so i am ready for a change.
I don't want to wish my life away and i don't want to leave a job I earned but sometime soon I won't be working for someone else anymore.
