Let’s get this started. Hopefully Tom can share some stories and pics with us as well when he migrates north to help the baiting with the outfitter he works with. Anyone else got a tag? My boy has a tag this year. I moved my land bait this year to a better location I think. Got the bait this weekend and got my first bait set. I bought bucket of peanut butter, 2 bottles of smoke and 3 bbls of mix. I need to get some anise from online. I may also run a second bait on nearby public land but that is a lot more work obviously.

What kind of bait did you get? On my Rusk County place we had good luck using part trail mix and part cookie dough style baits. We would get a few random tubs of frosting or gummy bears as a bonus to put out once in a while.

I haven’t hunted bear in many years, but remember people talking about gummy bears, meat scraps, and dog food with old grease poured on it.

Brad look into a bear scent called gold rush. We mix it with liquid smoke and spray it every time we bait. The hunters use it as cover when they hunt. If a hunter doesn't see bear and I have to move them, I spray the shit out of the area between the bait and hunter. There has only been 2 hunters in 8 years that have not shot a bear after doing this.

Every time we bait we pound the buckets and make a lot of noise. We have lots of pictures every year within minutes of the dinner bell ringing.

Every time we bait we pound the buckets and make a lot of noise. We have lots of pictures every year within minutes of the dinner bell ringing. Today as I was headed to the golf course.....within 1/2 mile of the parking lot......a sow and two cubs were in the middle of the road.....as I came over a hill. I braked somewhat hard....but I was never close to hitting one of those bears. The sow and one cub went right.....and the other cub went left. As I watched my rear view mirror....the lone cub crossed the road to catch up with mom. Case closed. My BIL has an interesting senario with bears. He has a BIG sow with SIX cubs. Same as last year. He was sitting on his patio outside his home when the cubs came scrambling out of a nearby tree. Then momma comes out of the tree too. Yowsir. He has pics and all. Last year he was in OD News for his bear deal. He is being quite this year on the same chit. (except for me) . FORE!

Yep every other year. Sometimes last years cubs will hang out with mom, but they should be at least 100 to 125 pounds by now.
