Sitting down for brunch!
No quota zone, one of 5 coming into bait. Nice! What makes a zone a "no-quota" zone? Is it habitat bear aren't supposed to be in? Too few to care?

Boy shot the 308 today. 180 grain nosler partition bullets. Looks like he is ready to me.

This is the guy we are after. He isn’t huge but would be a great bear for the kid.

That's a good bear. Looks like a boar based on his head.
It is hard to guess weight on one picture, but he is definitely big enough!

Is this bear at your cabin bait?

Is this bear at your cabin bait? Yes. How do I explain this. Things really slowed down for me big time last week. But I was getting pictures of bears near the corn and not on the bait. So for the hell of it I threw out a second stump near the corn and it got hit that night. The original bait is also getting hit now but not by the same bears at least not right now. So for the time being I'm running both baits but will eliminate one of them soon and stick with just one. That bear is by the corn bait.

picture from our garden this morning. The bear also tore an upright off of our drain field.

Art - Are you in the no-quota zone in MN? If so, it might be time to put out a bait site before they start destroying your apple trees. Bear ring bologna is really hard to beat!

We are in that new zone that is quota with unlimited tags, I think. Maybe 451. A neighbor is hunting and hopefully has a bait on the nearby wildlife area. I don’t really want to attract more bear to this section.

I think your ripening apples will attract the bears whether you buy a tag or not. For $45 you could hunt bears today since I believe this is the season opener!

Bad day of baiting 0-3 on the baits.

Bad day of baiting 0-3 on the baits. At my Rusk County place it was pretty common to have baits go cold for a little while when the bears were hitting corn or acorns hard. They seem to remember where they found trail mix in the past though, so they will be back.

Just stay the course.
