Wet weather also made bait sites go cold for us. It seems odd since the bears spend lots of time in swamps, but at my place movement slowed way down with wet weather. The season is long, so I bet you son will get a crack at one if he can hunt often enough.

Sitting down for brunch!
No quota zone, one of 5 coming into bait. Nice! What makes a zone a "no-quota" zone? Is it habitat bear aren't supposed to be in? Too few to care? Quota zones in MN are considered to be bears more natural habitat. Tags are given out on a lottery basis. No-quota zone is out side the bears normal habitat Range, were they generally aren’t supposed to live and tags can be bought over the counter.

Let’s get this started. Hopefully Tom can share some stories and pics with us as well when he migrates north to help the baiting with the outfitter he works with. Anyone else got a tag? My boy has a tag this year. I moved my land bait this year to a better location I think. Got the bait this weekend and got my first bait set. I bought bucket of peanut butter, 2 bottles of smoke and 3 bbls of mix. I need to get some anise from online. I may also run a second bait on nearby public land but that is a lot more work obviously. Where do you buy all your baiting materials?

My neighbor might be putting up a stand hunting here tonight. He is waiting for a call on his 63rd round of chemo for today or tomorrow. I hope he can hunt a bit and only one mile from his house.

I would rather go 0-3 today than when the season opens.
Any chance your neighbors got ag damage bear kill tags? You can look on the DNR's website to see who was issued them in your county. That pisses me off more than anything when we finally draw a tag on my land and the DNR traps them or my neighbors shoot them on ag tags before the season opener. If you don't have big ag fields nearby I doubt that is an issue for you though.
