I've been going down every road and talked to both state and federal agencies for 2 years now with regards to processing for other people. Its, for a lack of a better set of words, a cluster fuck, here in MN. So many regs, taxes, and political agendas. Disgusting!!! After 2 years and hours on the phone, my place is completly legal... under another indirect approach for pigs. Whitetails are another whole challenge.

I’ve taken mine to a garage guy last two years in WI. Works great. Your state is fucked up.

If I have a guest, the deer will be processed before leaving the property. Is DIY illegal for friends or my dad?

Not for certain. Farmed Cervidae are regulated diff from wild deer. Wild deer I believe you can gut and process for guest as long as you don't charge.

Talked to a friend last night that owns the Von Hansons store in Monticello, MN. He said only 3 of 25 Von Hansons stores are taking deer to butcher this year. He is one of the 3. Last year they did 52 deer before gun season. This year they are over 100 already. he said there are going to be a LOT of people panicking to find a place to get their deer cooled with the temps we face this weekend.... equaling a lot of spoilage will happen to many hunters with no place to bring their deer.

Yep, with temps in the 60's this weekend you better not shoot a deer unless you have a way to deal with it. I wonder if Miltona meats will stop taking deer, they have in the past. Allot of locals will shoot the first thing that comes by just so they can get it to the locker in time.

Gonna be a lot of eye balls popping out of peoples heads when they show up to drop off 4 deer. The places that do take deer will be shutting the cooler doors with no space left after day 1 I would bet. Watch the scramble from there.

Be careful eating your friends venison after this season.... who knows how much will not be taken care of in a timely manner. Gross is right.

No where to take deer, and no one has slugs to sell the hunters. Bad combo

Giant cooler half-full of ice. Skin it, quarter it, set it on top of the ice with the drain plug open. Put it in the shade. Once it's done bleeding for a day or two, cut it up and put it in food grade bags on ice. Problem solved, if you're aware and prepared.
