Crushed lime will lodge in like cement
The only way i could spread crushed lime was to use half pellet lime.

You cannot run ag lime thru a cone spreader. An EZ Flow Drop Spreader is the real deal. I have one.....it's been cut down to 6 feet wide for use in the woods. Has new tires a couple years ago. Rebuilt and freshly painted. I will sell it for a reasonable price. $800. - about what I got in it after narrowing it to six feet. Spreads ag lime very well......about 1,2000 lbs per hopper load. Load by tractor bucket....pull with a 4 wheeler.
I've applied over 60,000 lbs with it.....no issues. My land is pretty good PH.....now at about 7........so I get by a little pell lime now. Or......I could rent it for a few weeks??

Our QDMA chapter had a 10 foot lime drop spreader. Until it was used in a plot with stumps. Oops.
They would like to rent your spreader Foggy. Let me know.

If he willing to let it go for $800 I'd be all over it. Here's a pic of mine after I sectioned it down from a 10'er.

I can't find the pics of my EZ Flow spreader. Mine is painted Cat Yellow with Imron paint (hardened). I did a first class rebuild on that spreader and had it cut and resectioned to six feet wide so it was easier to get around trees and turn sharply. There is an agitator bar inside the hoppers that is ground driven by those tires (as shown in Tooln's pic). Those drop spreaders are getting scare these days......and a new lime spreader will cost over 2500. Not many choices on how to do this job.....unless a guy has a co-op willing to run in the woods or you want to do the work by hand.
I got hull brothers out of Avon MN to deliver 23 tons of ag lime for about $600. IIRC. Also got a dump truck of 12 tons for about the same price. The cost is mostly in the trucking. I got dolmetic quarry lime in my second load. It came out of a Mpls quarry. They say the dolmetic lime does not "wash thru" your solls as quickly as calcitic lime.
Lime quality and choices are allot of smoke and mirrors......but without it it's sure hard to grow good crops. Most of my land is at 7 ph or so. I think I started with some PH's as low as 4.5 or so.

The ground driven agitator is driven from both wheels. It's made like this so when you make sharp turns it still drops product. When I sectioned mine I kept this function. I believe Foggyss was done the same way. For $800 someone should get this bargain.
