At first I thought about not getting the shot. But after more thought and being a diabetic I guess I'm going to go through with it since I am in the at risk category. I have no idea when it will be available in my area as they just came out for 65 and older.

Just got the call that I'm scheduled to get the covid shot on Fri afternoon. I have debated with myself over the last couple of weeks if I would get it if offered. Age and health says I'm at risk, so like Tooln I'll get it.

If I got the shot, does that mean I could get the virus, not know it and pass it to someone else? Doesn’t the vaccine allow you to be a carrier and unaware? I’d hate to spread it to me parents.
I’m 48. Could lose a few pounds but not in a really high risk category.

Each state is set up differently though.

Got shot number one today but, the next opening for the second shot is March 31. They had a great setup with the N.H. National Guard doing everything. Everything went smoothly from check in, parking, shot through the window, wait 15 , and drive off. I had assumed boosters needed to be given within a shorter time period. Any explanation?

They won't come to you, you have to find out where they are giving vaccines and sign up.

You are correct. Moderna is 28 days and Phizer is 21 days.

I have been watch the local clinic's website.

I still don’t see how this ever ends. Once we give the shot to the at-risk, we give the shots to those that aren’t at risk. Then we’ve all got to continue not living because we’re all at risk, despite none of us being at risk all the way through this. Or, what’s far less likely, we’ve dodged exposure to this for 17 months even though this thing circled the globe and penetrated every little corner of every community. I got this letter from the hospital system here yesterday. This makes no sense to me.

The way it was explained to me the second Moderna booster had to be given after 28 days. The first Moderna shot is over 80% efficient long term. The second shot brings it up to 95%. The Pfizer is less efficient after one dose but, goes up to 95% after the second dose. They did recommend the second shot within 42 days but, that’s not going to happen in NH now that they’ve ramped things up. I’ll be at 56 days instead of 42. Not much I can do.

Thank you for the explanation. I assume we can blame Biden for the second dose not being available at the designated time as many would have blamed Trump in the past. In al truth, I feared this would happen once they stopped holding vaccine for the second dose. Experts on the radio said they felt vaccine will give more long term immunity than natural infection. However when vaccine boosters are given at the proper time, the levels change, plus individual differences in response. Carl, I think it is good you got the vaccine. In general, I am very skeptical that the situation for the country is understood by anyone.
