The problem with Covid that I see is that there must be a percentage of the population who are extremely susceptible. If/when we know what it is in a person's genetic makeup that makes them more/less likely to get the 'rona and die...then the fear can go away permanently. Those who are susceptible will get the vaccines and boosters, those who aren't can choose to either get sick for a few days when they get it or get the vaccines.
Until then, it's a crap shoot IMHO.

I want to wait awhile, talk to my Dr., and then make the final decision on vaccine. Appointment is in early April.

Population is just a tad larger in 2020 than 1952....
Its a cold virus, of coarse its going to be more 'widespread'. Its a targeted virus that makes human sense of smell & taste go on mute. It was created for exactly the political movement that we live now.
The population is 2.1 greater now than it was in 1952. Still would make Covid 19 worse by number of people infected and deaths.

A lot of you guys are too young to remember but when I was young I remember lining up for my polio vaccine in late 50's. A lot of people at the time had doubts and fought getting vaccine. Look what a success that vaccine was. Foggy and Sandbur might remember this. I remember polio and had a few freinds with some paralysis from polio. That vaccine was a life saver for many folks. Covid is a horse of a different feather. Could be here a while.

How many years of testing, trials and research did the polio vaccine have before it was unleashed on the public?
If you want to compare the two, compare that. No COVID vaccine for me or my kids. My wife is on the fence and she can make her own choice.

In drug or device development there are two requirments that MUST be met before it is approved and sold. (That was until covid)
First, it must be proven safe. And second, it must be proven effictive.. There is no long term, human data on Covid "vacines"...period. Effectiveness has not been proven and safety hasn't been proven....period.

My wife is on the fence and she can make her own choice. Jonas Salk started research in 1952. Test field trials began April 26th 1954 and on April 12, 1955, researchers announced the vaccine was safe and effective. Little less than a year from field tests to the start of vaccinations. www.history.com/this-day-in-history/polio-vaccine-trials-begin

We had our Covid shot appointment at the State Farm Dome here in OZ. Just got back from getting shot #1 and they give you a card with a date for shot #2 when you go. Whole process took an hour. Ten lines.....stay in your car. Lots of folks lined up and getting stuck. No big deal.....but you gotta make an appointment on line.

He was told he’d never walk again. His mother strapped his feet to a tricycle and made him turn the pedals. He said it was painful but, he kept at it and learned to walk again. Served our country in the Korean War and became a runner after age 50. Ran 20 marathons including Boston 6 times. He didn’t talk about his childhood much but, I remember the polio story.

Everything is 'covid' thats why I don't believe anything I read or hear because its 100% a political game. They definitely politicized this as well as the BLM movement. The at risk people for covid would most likely be at risk for the regular flu.

Wonder how long we will be wearing a mask in public? I was thinking the same thing. For the past year my routine has been to work from home or my camp, do grocery shopping for my wife and I and her father, go to Tractor Supply, go to my camp for the weekends. I’ve had very little contact with other people which for the most part is fine by me.
