As local as possible. I will not give any money to any business in the metro, just not gonna happen. The truck I'm looking at is fairly priced according to every source I've looked at, but I just can't buy a vehicle without getting something off the price. Working on a free extended warranty right now. edit...dealer won't move off the price. Also won't "chase" me trying to get me to pay their price. I was within $2-3K of what they want. Interesting world that vehicle sales have become. The dealer I suggested to you won’t move more than $200 or so dollars. That might be in some extras. Thing is, I trust them. Yep, I checked with them. Nothing there that interests me. I'm sure they'd try to find one for me, but I'll be locked in to their price if they do.

Maybe used is a bit different but at a dealership I'm guessing it's not. It's a used truck at a dealership edit...guy says at the price I offered they'd be eating the title fee. I have no idea what they've got into the thing. I should probably just go get the damn truck.

I've bought 2 vehicles in my life. Both new at dealer. They came out w/ a price and I asked for a few hundred off and they said yes both times. In the end, unless it's thousands different, you won't remember a few hundred. I kept my first one 14 years. The plan for this one is 10. That may change if my long term hold investment goes bonkers in 5-7 years but that would give me 3 years of no payments. I got a no interest loan last year April when I bought so not a ton of incentive to pay it off early.

If it's still there tomorrow, we'll probably go take it for a test drive and buy it. I haven't bought a brand new vehicle off the lot since 1999. I just can't take that first depreciation hit. We also keep vehicles a long time. If I go buy this one, we'll own a 2017 Chevy, a 2005 Chevy, and a 2002 Ford. Neither of our existing trucks are worth shit on trade in. We'll keep 'em around for "back ups". Most likely park the new one in the garage and keep driving the '05 Chevy for the most part. Use the 2017 for longer distance trips. No payments is a wonderful thing

Still ran fine but I wasn't going to argue with them.

We always paid cash and haven’t bought a new vehicle since 2006. He will only wiggle a few hundred dollars.

Looks like the guy is done with me. Gave him a last offer and he went silent. Oh well. We don't need a truck right now. $500 ended up being the difference.

A "good" sales guy would have come back at me with some upgraded floor mats, a few oil changes....something to make the deal go through.

I'd guess the deal is too low to be worth pursuing, or the sale is taking too long. It's stimmy week. They could have leads pouring in faster than they can handle them, so it's turn and burn time. If someone is eating up time and not buying, a decision has to be made to keep trying, or put that time into someone that is more likely to buy. Or the dude is just bad at sales.

Told the guy I'd be up this afternoon or tomorrow afternoon to write him the check. edit...lol. The guy got back to me and started the same round about discussion we had yesterday. I told him I'm not an idiot and that I was tired of the discussion. Also told him I was sorry for wasting his time and that I thought he might have wanted the truck off his lot and a check in the bank. 15 minutes later he says he'll take my last offer

I had to change my vote. I just realized i made too much in 2020 to get the full amount. Crazy that difference in what people could get based on 2019 or 2020 taxes.
I am sure there are lot of people that made more in 2019 because they took a pay cut because of COVID.

The Mrs just told me we are getting a check. According to her, since we had already done 2020 taxes and we made less in. 2020, we qualified. Would have got less if they used 2019 tax return.
