Have any of you guys and cats used your local coop's to spray an ag field or food plot? I've got around 25 acres of grass hay field I want to convert to food plots and was thinking it would be faster and easier to just pay either proag or leaf river to come out and spray the fields a couple weeks before I disc and plant. I know it would cost a bit more then doing it myself with an atv spreader, but i think the time and headache saved would more then make up for it. Let me know, thanks.

I've never done it, but with that kind of acreage I'd sure spend some time figuring out if I could hire them to do it and how much it would cost. Seems to me it would be more than worth the cost once you figure in your time. The co-ops spray the 30-70 acre fields to my east in minutes instead of hours.

Twenty five acres is a lot of foodplots for an atv.
Any chance of renting for cash or leave 4 acres of corn standing?

25 acres of food plots?? Wow!!!!
have you called Proag to get an estimate? Is it a long time grass hay field? Thats going to take more than discing a couple weeks after to get that turned over to dirt if that sod is thick.

It's been a long time hay field and know it may take a couple sprayings to get a complete kill.

the sod will take more than a disc unless you have a huge disc with fold up gangs to give it a lot of weight.... i would think.
I just know the sod i have cut over the years with smaller stuff was a chore-and-a-half unless we used the mold board plow. Even after that it was a number of passes with the disc to have a field to plant.

My time is way more valuable up there then my money. That's why I'm leaning to pay for it.

10 acres is a shitton of food if you get a decent yield.

My idea was to have it sprayed, wait a couple weeks, disc it, see how it looks, plant if it looks good or spray again in a few weeks/ month, disc, then plant into brassicas/whatever...

Have you developed a plantable food plot in old sod? I assume so from youre previous places. If not, Sod layer can be MIGHTY thick depending how long its not been farmed.
hey, you have that 3 bottom plow you bought from my Dad right??

I'd plow it and disk it instead of spraying...or better yet pay somebody with bigger equipment plow and disk it for me. Then you could fart around with doing whatever you want to do.
