Dug a moat around the low spot and threw the spoils to the center. Once the skid steer gets here, all that will get crowned. Won’t the fish just swim in circles?

Not gonna get any video while I’m up here. Not enough horsepower to upload it. I think I’ve got the GoPro figured out though. Should be able to catch a bunch of this and not lose any time to it. Got the water pipe in for the pond. Dug out a couple aspen stumps along my trail. They were bound to nab a tire some day. when you have time, please explain how this water pipe will function. That’s just to hold the dirt open down 8’. In a few weeks, I’ll drop a string down there to see if I have ground water. I wanna know if there is groundwater. If not, I may have a pond that just goes dry in a year like this.

I'm all done with the excavator now. I'm waiting for the skid steer to show up this morning. I got through all of my projects, and am sending it back with two unused hours. I'm not upset about it though. That E50 is the tool for habitat work. It's not for finish work, but for making trails and taking out stumps, brush, and trees, it's unstoppable. I got out every single stump in my south plot expansion, and the worst ones maybe took 4 minutes. I also got every stump out of my north plot except 2. One was too close to a live oak, and the other I forgot about.
No new pics yet, it looks like the whole property was bombed. I'll get to making it all pretty with the skid steer and then catch some at the end.
Here's a quick list of what's done or in progress:
South plot crowning South plot expansion North plot trench All stumps South line access trail 1 South line access trail 2 New lane into south plot New 100 yard trail (the last 100 yards from north ground blind to Omaha Tower) Pushed back brush on encroached trails (this was a shitload of fun, push and smash) Drained the work trail puddle Put in the pond monitoring pipe Started reopening another old trail (about half done)

I'm just glad you were able to load up that old poop pail and relocate it.

I got Omaha Tower (the banks blind) moved and turned. That was slick as shit with those pallet fork extensions.
I got my north ground blind raised up and turned. That looks legendary.
I got my south plot expansion cleaned and ready to seed.
I got half my crowning dirt spread on the south plot. The machine is throwing a hot hydraulic fluid code, so the boys in town are bringing out another machine.
I'll try to get some pics up tonight. I'm running ahead of schedule so far, I figure I've only got 5-8 hours of dirt work left. Should leave me enough time to get those plots harrowed and put the cheap seed down and packed in.

31st for me this year. Maybe we will be in a more normal weather pattern by then.

31st for me this year. Maybe we will be in a more normal weather pattern by then. I've got about 4 different areas to plant in the hills and 2 in the river bottoms. All but 2 will be a throw and mow, so I want to get those down first as they seem to take longer to get up and running. Areas I can till I'm waiting for 8/1 for brassicas, 8/15 for cereals, and 8/28 for a perennial clover/alfalfa spot. I think I planted one brassica plot 7/18 last year and it ran out of nutrients as we didn't get a killing frost until mid Octoberish. So I'm not in a hurry to plant this weekend. Plus it doesn't look like much rain in the forecast.

If it gets to raining, I'll come back later and add the expensive stuff. That said, I won't be planting shit if I can't get any of these skid steers to work. They brought me a Bobcat T590 and on the first scoop into the pile of loose dirt, it snorted and died. Error code M0514 Hyd Charge Pressure Extremely Low. Then it shut itself down after 15 seconds.

Tough luck on bad machines. Hope they make right for you. Glad everything else is moving along well.

Tough luck on bad machines. Hope they make right for you. Glad everything else is moving along well. Turns out they brought the damn thing out and it had no hydraulic fluid. The sight glass is bone dry and I didn't blow any hoses. So they're coming to fill it first thing in the morning. I still think I can get done, but I'm going to be hauling ass to get this thing over the finish line now. I got other stuff done after that. I'll work on posting that later on tonight if I get time.

Gotta wonder how it became bone dry??? Quite unusual for a machine like this to be out of fluid. Low?.... yes...that happens...but that low???

Sight glass is probably for when it is hot but it is not possible to run out of fluid or machine wouldn’t move before that. Probably to low for sight glass and obviously to work. That is inexcusable to send a machine out like that. If I was your salesman the shop would be eating that rental.

I only got 3.6 hour run time today. I should be done by now.
