Why couldn't you shoot out of a barn? I've seen it on hunting shows and read multiple articles about that.

I shot a number of deer out of the window of the shop at my old place in WI. I read the regs and researched for quite awhile to determine if it was legal or not. From what I could figure out, it was indeed legal.

Seems like if you can hunt from a box blind you could hunt from a barn.
I can start hunting Monday but probably won't go out until November (unless a great situation pops up).

From what I could figure out, it was indeed legal. Yup I just read thru an old regulation. I didn’t see anything. Said you can’t shoot within 100 yards from a residence you don’t own. So I guess you can hunt from a barn. My bad.

I just don’t like to shoot a deer in warm weather. I prefer nights in the 30’s.

I just don’t like to shoot a deer in warm weather. I prefer nights in the 30’s. I shot, retrieved, and caped out last year's firearm buck in under an hour. Had one 20 lb. bag of ice ready in the freezer and threw that in the body cavity once I had him caped. I wore a pair of shorts and a hoodie to drop the cape off at the taxidermist, I believe the truck thermometer was in the mid 50s on the way. Bought another 2, 20 lb. bags of ice on the way home. It may have gotten down to the upper 30s that night, but it wouldn't have been until early in the a.m. That buck would have been spoiled if I didn't get the cape off and a bunch of ice wrapped around/in the body. Sometimes beggars can't be choosers

Sometimes beggars can't be choosers . It was pushing 70 on the way home after my bow kill. I put three bags of ice in him and elevated him off of the truck bed on the 75 mile drive to the butcher shop. I prefer to process Deer myself and prefer cooler nights. The meat was good from the above bow kill and it was easy to have someone else process it.

I might be out on Saturday, but will probably fish on Sunday. A bit too warm of a forecast! First cool night and I am going to try Parkers Prairie for a doe or who knows--maybe a buck?
Nothing great on camera during daylight in MN...but I am still excited to hunt!

No hunting for me this weekend. Dont want to deal with emergency butchering.
Freeborn texted me this week asking about butcher shops taking deer in OTC..... I hadnt thought of it.
So I called, and we only have 3 reasonably close(within 30 miles or so) and none of them are taking carcasses. only trim.

I've passed so many deer that I should have shot it's probably ridiculous. Usually a warm Sunday evening when a nice one walks by and I just don't want to mess with staying up all night dealing with it.

I'll clear out the beer fridge in the garage if either my daughter or I get lucky on Saturday night. Been done before and works well. Might be hunting in shorts for the first time but we'll see!

I can find out, their son bought the locker in Starbuck. I talked to the dad who owns the NY Mills locker this weekend. I think they take full deer, but not 100% sure. He did say they made 220,000 lbs of venison summer sausage last year!!!
