Was it over Thanksgiving? I don't remember that? That would be ideal.

Back in the 70's when we had metal tags it was over thanksgiving. You could shoot a bear if one was still roaming around at that time as well.

I remember researching MN's deer season structure back when I moved here. The current season structure has been around since some time in the mid-late 70s as I recall.
At least pushing the season back to the 2nd Saturday in November would seem a reasonable compromise

At least pushing the season back to the 2nd Saturday in November would seem a reasonable compromise I remember me and my dad having thanksgiving dinner up north while hunting at his buddies place in Talmoon MN. It was for sure back then, I remember it like yesterday. Maybe it switched right after that. I still have a old tag and license at home, I will try and remember to look at it next week when I get home.

If MN had a 9 day gun season over Thanksgiving, with reasonable tag situations, no intensive harvest, one buck per person limit period. MN would change so fast it would make your head spin.
Let me add that our county (Pope) has a food plot payment program. You get $250/acre for leaving corn, soybeans, etc... This has helped our wildlife deer and pheasants. Sponsored by the local pheasant group. It would be nice if there was a statewide program like that in MN.

Is this a local pheasants forever chapter? I'd like to get lined up with some incentive, even free seed would help.

It's a local chapter (Pope County Pheasant Restoration) they know much of it ends up feeding the deer, but fine with that.
