Any idea what the hanging weight was? It has to be on the small end.
Honestly, when I heard the weight of the one we are getting, I was bummed..... its only me and the wife. I was hoping for a midget angus...... The last one we got was also a mammoth huge animal.

Last year we picked up some of the whole rib eye sections for $7/lb. They were about 15 pounds, so we had to slice them into one pound steaks and then freeze them like we do venison. It was a little work, but you can't beat that price. Rib eyes steak on the grill can't be beat. That’s a good way of doing it Ben. You get to cut them to your desired thickness. A lot of chain stores here cut them way too thin for me. I buy 3-4 extra prime rib roasts at Christmas time for $5.99 pound and slice them into ribeye steaks and freeze them up. That’s the cheapest time that I’ve seen to get them.

Comparing three states in the past year A ribeye at the steakhouse in Minnesota was $26, Iowa $18, Maine over $40. All three were good steaks, but the Ribeye in Iowa was the best, and bigger overall. You can eat fairly reasonable in the small town bar/restaurants in Iowa. When you going back to Maine?

My neighbor was selling their beef at $2.35 a pound plus processing. They do 2 steers at a time, twice a year.

picked up my 1/4 beef yesterday. It must have been the size of an elephant. What a load compared to previous purchases.
Only thing in the freezer is yesterdays cow and the box of cheesecakes.

I think they accidentally gave you the entire cow!
