I got a plot that may be as much as 1/4 acre (probably less) and it gets allot of traffic most days. May be the best site I got to take a cruising buck. I wish I had a better blind location here.....but it is what it is. It's got two sanctuary areas nearby......and a large swamp area to the south. Also gets lots of bears and varmints coming thru.

I got about a dozen (+) small plots I call fingers. Many of these plots are 100 yards or so in length and most are about 25 to 30 feet wide. (enough to make 4 or 5 passes with 5 foot equipment). Many of these will join another plot at some kind of an angle.....and sometimes I have three to four plots like this that will join together. Usually I got 50 yards or more of thickvcover between them and the deer groups will often bed in that cover. Ive made all of them so that they do not "dead end" but rather may have a trail or means to easily turn around at the far ends. Really works nice for "farming" these finger plots. We do have stands on some.....and leave others. I guess they all all micro plots......as most of them are about 1/4 acre in size. edit: not sure why the "attach image" function did not work (?). This is an "attachment".

Just remembered that I had taken a "screen shot" of my property the other day from Google maps. I am having Northwoods Mapping make me another up to date 24x36" laminated map similar to the one shown below. The map. shows the maze of trails and plots at my place. Most folks visiting get lost. lol. I own 3 - "40's". One is the parcel to the north of the old landing strip at the center / right of this pic......and two forties are to the left - and are stacked.....forming an inverted "L". You can see my corduroy swamp crossing in the pic too. . It's just to the north of the landing strip.

I can see why people would get turned around in there. How much of the visible trail maze do you plant each year?

I can see why people would get turned around in there. How much of the visible trail maze do you plant each year? Maybe 60% ?? The google pic shows quite a few trails as well as food plots.....some show up more than what they are.....and a few don't show up much at all. Some of those trails get mowed every other year. I plant a total of 10 acres.....but two of those acres are pretty lame yet. Those acres need some lime. The cover between these lanes is now getting pretty thick. It would be interesting to hunt those lanes on foot....if not for running the deer out of the property for others. We try to stay as low impact as we can. Only use certain travel lanes to the stands.

10 days after planting new plot. I've had more pics in the 10 days than I usually get in a month or two.

Here are a couple from one of my spots. Spread a mixture of Urea and AMS to give them a burst of N. The rye is all volunteer from last falls seeding. Here is an example of thick thatch vs where I was able to work the same plot up a bit more. Rye was broadcast in before the pic. Another small plot with thick thatch, clover in the back. Stand in one of those pines and a 30’ drop to the creek straight behind the trees past the clover.
