Damn early season shit. My son is on stand with bow. A guy and 2 kids just showed up 100 yds from him. They dont realize he is there. Trespasding or do they have permission? I can remember bow hunting about 60 miles south of International Falls and we’ll back in the woods. I saw a nice buck and a young buck and kind of figured out where they were bedding on a point on a swamp. With the right wind, I went in and placed a stand. The first sit and about two hours before dark, two guys walk in with a chain saw, hammer and nails and build a stand on the bedding point. They didn’t even know I was there. National forest belongs to everybody.

The neighbor to the right of that pic ended up tracking a deer (I think) from right to left across that big bean field and scaring the two fawns along with some more that were coming out. Is it legal to track across boundaries without permission? The farmer where I hunt was wondering and was pissed ha.
It ended up working for me anyways, just later than I was hoping. From the far side in the picture above, 4 came running across the picked beans right into my plot. I picked the biggest one and smacked her at about 15 yards. She went through the fence line and died right on the other side, perfect for me to drive right up to her! I didn’t kill one the past two seasons, so it felt good to get back on the board! Yes, it is, but you must leave if your told to do so. is my understanding

I believe you need permission to cross any ag property though, but woodlands or CRP acres can be crossed without permission.

Here is the wording from the regs: "A person on foot may, without permission, enter land that is not posted to retrieve a wounded wild animal that was lawfully shot, but may not remain on the land after being told to leave"
If posted: "A person may not enter legally posted land for outdoor recreation purposes without permission"

1st sit of the year. I was able to get my wife to let me go bow hunting by my self. Didnt think I was going to get out hunting this year with my heart issues but here I am. On this date in 2017 I shot my biggest buck to date and on this date in 2020 I trapped my fisher. Maybe I can get lucky again. No food plots just a bunch of volunteer clover so we shall see.

Sitting in between a creek and a black field, don't expect much as my mock scrape hasn't been touched, more of a excuse to get outside tonight. It was a great evening to be in the woods.

I'm in my old reliable spot (didn't everyone hunt with an old timer that his "old reliable" spot). This is a flat that sits between two ravines and connects the swamp to the mountain. It is a hike to get here but usually worth it.

Back in the blind for my 2nd sit. Noticed a couple of new scrapes on walk into stand.

Back in my orchard plot. Last year I shot one of my biggest bucks here on 10/31. Hopefully it repeats a few days earlier. 25 degrees cooler than last night.
