Tonight and tomorrow night could be the best days to be on the water for walleyes. In past years the late afternoon and into the evening bite is great . If the weather cooperates!
The full moon really trigger the bites!
Anyone going out ?

Decades ago, I fished the full moon nights on Mille Lacs. Evening until about 2 AM. August, September, and October.
I no longer have the ambition!

Tried for 2 hours earlier (just Northern & smallmouth)… heading out at 6:30. The fishing usually gets really good about the time I want to head In !

We ended up catching 5 under the full moon . Biggest was 22 inches. I’d say a little slow for prime time. But that’s fishing !

Yes, Minnewaska . Very hit or miss on Waska !! I'll never forget fishing with an old neighbor on that lake. A hard lake to fish as I recalll. Anyway Early on....my neighbor causght about a 7lb walleye....and was bragging on it for a few days. The fishing was very slow. He had his fish in the freezer at the place we were staying and we constantly needed to look at his fish, etc....he later had it mounted. He was very proud of that fish. I had not caught a thing......and he was CONSTANTLY rubbing that in as we were fishing. Finally I caught a Walleye that was bigger than his.....by a wide margin. I flipped it onto the wooden seat of our Lund boat and immediately filleted that fish out.....and without another word I put it on ice in the cooler. He was speechless and never spoke another word on his "big fish" on that trip. I think in other situations I would have let that fish go.....but I guess he had finally got my goat....lol.

There was a chop right around dark and for a little after. Then it went dead calm. The action quit after it calmed down.
At that point we probably should have went to lighted slip bobbers, but it was about time to head in.

When I used to night fish Mille Lacs, certain winds and certain parts of the bar were best.
We had no gps. Just a flasher. I had big plastic containers that I would put a flashlight in and drop them on the ends of the bar. Then you had to watch the flasher to find the rock ridges on that bar.

I remember having to actually line-up landmarks on one shore with another on the other side of the lake to find our bar to fish......ahhh....the good old days eh? lol
