Went to Jack and Jims in Duelm for dinner. Top shelf once again. Best damn salad bar on top of it. A guy pulled up in this. He custom built it 35 years ago. Its not a kit car he claimed. Neat little thing. only 3 wheels.

Then my son tonight was in his squad in his driveway prepping for his shift. Some dingbat drives right by him in the neighborhood while he is sitting in his driveway, with both hands off the wheel, staring at her phone texting.
Cherries on, pulled her over 4 houses down. LOLLLL.

I was adding a support pole to an apple seedling and a young pheasant flew out of the cage. There was a group of them and they could just fly short distances.
Perhaps a good pheasant hatch might be one good result of the drought.

The dry spring made for some big hatches. 8 to 12 per hen vs last year we had a very wet spring with very small hatches of 1 to 4.

And I beleive a group of pheasants is a FLOCK! Didnt they teach you nothing at vet school? Grin. .

Horseflies - where did they all come from? Had my place for over 30 years and this year have more of them in all the previous years combined. Anyone else having a problem?

Zero here in big lake. Never really see much of them. That was my previous experience also, rarely saw. Opened cabin door to air out like I usually do and spent the next hr going around killing them. Didn’t count but had to be at least 40. No more airing out cabin with door open. I had to be careful to get them all because I react badly to their bites.

Both horse and deer flies are terrible here, but they are every year I think the drought and more open country over here have driven numbers down. Maybe less ticks as well.
