Just wonderful....
Plus,,, now its up to 11 confirmed deer???
Cornicelli said the DNR will do genetic work on all 10 of the CWD-positive deer found in the hot zone, which he described as being as small as a “pin prick on a map.” An 11th infected deer was found about 5 miles north of the cluster. They were all shot by hunters or sharpshooters over the past three months.

Todays Star Trib, 1 of the deer harvested by sharpshooters had notches in both ears plus a hole in each deer. The deer was tested as not positive, but probably escaped from a deer farm and not reported. Wonder how many others have escaped and not reported? If you could get away from anyone checking about escaped animals, and the possibility of being shut down , would you report it?

The Bad news continues. How does this end? Probably not good for the average hunter. I hope you guys live a long time because by the time i'm 80 there won't be any hunters left.

With the entire state under CWD rules/laws/regs. MN DNR's new slogan - A much smaller and younger deer herd coming to your area...soon

If I have the location correct, this had previously been an elk facility.
I have seen several roadkill deer in this area and asked the state about testing. I don't think any has been done.

Anybody read Pat Durkin's article in the last ODN? It was written for WI ODN, but published in the MN edition.
At any rate, CWD crossed the species barrier to macaque monkeys, both through normal ingestion of infected venison and prion injection.
Scary shit
Durkin isn't my favorite outdoor writer, but the guy does dig into CWD and provide some (scary) facts

That would mean all deer must die in hog country.

Once it's shown that CWD can indeed be contracted by humans through normal ingestion of venison...the deer (all of them, all species) will be hunted harder than wolves were...to the point of near extinction...

.... and people have said hunting land prices wont be affected by CWD? Once it's proven that a person can be infected with CWD via eating a piece of backstrap...just watch rec land prices plummet. My land has little value besides deer hunting, I probably paid $200 an acre more than I should have in 2012. By 2030 it might be worth what I paid 5 years ago
