You gotta die of something. True enough. Of course, only idiots would continue doing something that has been proven to kill you (thankfully there are plenty of them to keep the tobacco industry rich)

Smoked and chewed (or both) for most of my life. One of the dumbest things I ever did...and I still miss it from time to time

.... and people have said hunting land prices wont be affected by CWD? Once it's proven that a person can be infected with CWD via eating a piece of backstrap...just watch rec land prices plummet. My land has little value besides deer hunting, I probably paid $200 an acre more than I should have in 2012. By 2030 it might be worth what I paid 5 years ago Do you think this line of thinking would hold true for a fenced property with fish ponds and a "wild" pig population?

I snuck over today Jeff, and saw the gates into the new park. I think you need to change the name to PigTown Park though.

No. A buyer of such a property wouldn't be looking to buy to hunt CWD infected (or possibly infected) deer.

That's why controlling the message is so important to them I dont think they care. White Buffalo kills municipal deer for $100. Get the herd low enough and treat them like pocket gopher and its all good.

Get the herd low enough and treat them like pocket gopher and its all good. I'd agree they don't care about deer. They certainly do want to get the herd low enough so they can be more easily controlled in the future. That herd reduction starts this September in MN and will likely continue for as long as we're alive

That herd reduction starts this September in MN and will likely continue for as long as we're alive I fear you are correct and the study with the monkeys is scary. Incidentaly, some of those monkeys caught CWD from eating it and some of from injecting it into their skulls. Years back, there was a study on the internet where in Colorado they were injecting sheep scrapie into deer skulls for a study. I suspect the pens were then used for other deer and elk studies. This was back in the '60's or earlier. But the study was removed from the internet and I never could find it again. Now they say CWD, is very similar to Scrapie.

I was seriously pondering this yesterday. I'd like to know what conditions the prion material was in when it was introduced to the monkeys. Was it raw? You guys know I'm a canner. Are these prions so super they can withstand pressure canning temps, salt, and an oxygen free environment and still be potentially harmful to humans?
